Health and Safety Governor Committee Update

Governors met on Friday 26th May as part of the Health and Safety committee. They spoke to children in year 3 and 4 regarding the behaviour systems used across our school. It was clear to Governors that the children like the systems we have in place and believe them to be fair. The children could clearly see the benefits of following the BeSMART code.

The governors also spoke with the site manager, Mr Thomas. They asked him about the checks he carries out linked to site safety/maintenance, water safety, road/ traffic management and electrical safety. Governors were satisfied that his understanding of policy and procedure is robust and that his training is of a high level.

Nursery sports day

It’s that time of year again when we start planning for sports day.  The nursery sports day will be held on Thursday 13th July, weather permitting.  Ladybugs will be participating at 10.00-10.30 and again at 2.00-2.30. Mighty oaks sessions are at 10.30-11.00 and 2.30-3.00.  This will be held on the top field where the astro turf is.  To access this area the gate near the mighty oaks play area is unlocked just before the sessions start.  The children usually dress according to their colour group, for example, if your child is in blue group they may come in with a blue hair bobble or T shirt.  All children will need sensible shoes for running in such as trainers.  If it’s a warm, sunny day please apply suncream and send in a named hat for them to wear.

If your child does not attend on a Thursday you are still welcome as long as you stay with your child.  Just meet us on the field at the correct time.  Any questions please get in touch with your child’s keyworker.

Thanks in advance for your support

Goodbye for now

Becky Fenn, who is mostly stationed in ladybugs, as some of you may have guessed, is expecting a baby.  Her last day in nursery will be Friday 26th May.  I’m sure you’ll all join me in wishing her well and we can’t wait to meet her new bundle of joy.  If your child is in her key group you will be informed of their new keyworker.

Exciting times!

Stay and play for Father’s Day

Father’s Day stay and play sessions
Both Lady bugs and Mighty Oaks are holding Stay and play sessions on the 13th June to celebrate Fathers Day.
Please see the invite attached below for details.

The chicks have arrived

We went to visit the eggs/chicks today in school. Some have hatched already so the children were taught how to hold them correctly and how to look after them. They were very inquisitive and asked lots of questions which was a pleasure to hear and answer. Don’t worry if your child missed out on this little visit because they are coming back into school on Monday, by then I should imagine that all the eggs would have hatched.

Finance and Personnel Governors Committee update

9.5.23

The Finance and Personnel committee met last week. Like all committees this one meets every half term.

This committee meets to ensure that the school expenditure is carefully considered to ensure the best interests of the child.

Governors were delighted to spend time talking to a parent of a child in year 5, who in her responses reassured governors that the best interests of the children are at the heart of all financial decision making.

Governors were updated on the potential staffing structure for next year and felt confident that the continued high standards of education will be sustained.

Governors are always happy to hear from parents. We love to pass on positive news and as ever are always keen to sort out any issues that parents have. All you need do is email into the school and a Governor will get back to you!

Kind regards,

Finance & Personnel Governors.

King Charles Coronation celebrations

What a great way to start off the bank holiday weekend with celebrations for our King Charles.
The children have had a very busy day/ week getting ready for today. They’ve been creating and baking from biscuit decorating to making crowns and flags.
The colours Red, White and Blue where wore to represent our uk flag, party music was played for dancing and we had a very traditional tea party 🎉 🍰
Here’s to our King Long may he reign. 👑
