Safety Online

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are really keen to support in the battle to keep children safe online. We have very many systems in school which mean we have a tight grip on what children can access. Unfortunately, this pandemic has meant that children have been couped up way more than usual over the last 2 years and for many this has meant significantly more time spent on devices. As a parent of teenagers I know how hard it is to keep control of what children do and what they access. We are aware that a significant number of our children have access to apps that have a much older age limit on them. We know from research that the age limits are very much set inline with the maturity levels of children. Miss Newport has arranged some really worthwhile training and support for parents which will be delivered by the NSPCC. We do hope you can attend.

Change to school menu Tuesday 25th January 2022

Due to a supply issue with our catering supplier we have had to change the menu tomorrow (Tuesday 25th January) to burgers instead of hotdogs. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Covid update – staff shortages 24.01.2022

Dear Parents/Carers,

Just a quick message to warn everyone that we are suffering very significant staff shortages due to teachers and cover teachers testing positive.

We have managed to cover today by rejigging people, but I just want to make everyone aware that we are potentially looking at having to close a year group and moving them to online learning should we have to.

It is so hard to give much notice for this, as very often we don’t know that staff are not going to be in until the morning they test positive.

I absolutely know how inconvenient this would be for working parents and also know that children get so much more from face-to-face teaching, so we will continue to try our best to keep fully operational.

I just wanted to give parents the heads up so they can start thinking about possible childcare issues should we have to move some children to online learning.

We will of course keep you posted and in the meantime, help us by not risking sending your child to school if they are displaying symptoms and by testing regularly.

Thank you for your ongoing support during this ongoing challenging time.

Covid Update 19.1.22

Dear Parents/Carers,

We currently have 38 children infected with Covid and 5 staff members.

These figures are similar to, or below that of other schools in Telford.

We are expecting to see this figure rise before we hopefully peak in the very near future.

We are so grateful to parents supporting us by regularly testing and avoiding sending children into school if they feel their child is demonstrating symptoms.

Despite the high levels of staff shortages, we have thankfully managed so far to keep all year groups operating face to face teaching. We really do hope this continues as we reach the peak.

We believe there really is a light at the end of this pandemic tunnel now and trust we can all continue to work together to limit the impact it is having on our children’s education and wellbeing.

We are all looking forward to pre Covid normality.

Many thanks

Miss Cook

On the farm

Our over arching theme this term is ‘ On the farm ‘ the children will be looking at all different aspects of farm life. This week we have been talking about where the animals live on the farm and their purpose or jobs. We’ve had lots of time to taste a verity of different foods that have been produced from farms. The children are enjoying this subject and have already took onboard what they’ve learnt and used available resources to support their play, especially at our very own Mighty Oaks Farm vets.

Our PE days

Mighty oaks have come back this term ready for the get, set go in their PE sessions with the sport coaches from cross bar, Mr Birch and Mr stone. These sessions take part on a Tuesday morning but no extra kit is needed. They have been learning lots of new skills and putting them into practice with new games. This week was all about underarm and over arm throwing and team games, which they loved called minions and bananas. At the end of each session the coaches choose the children they think have improved the most or listened to instructions really well. Here are this weeks winners. Well done everyone. ⭐️
