Art day

On Monday 8th February the whole school is taking part in an art day.  For those of you at home on Monday you might like to join in  by making a handprint.  We are going to make a handprint in nursery using paint and then decorate them when they are dry.  You could perhaps make a handprint i the same way or by drawing around their hand.  They could decorate it using different textures or colours.  Your child could stick on dried pasta, fabric scraps, wool, glitter, old bits of wrapping paper or anything you can find.  This is a really good opportunity for your child to practise their scissor skills and discuss the textures and colours that they like.  Perhaps they could send their handprint to a grandparent stuck onto a card with a kind message written inside?

Please share any art that you do create via evidence me, we’d love to see.

ART DAY Monday 8th February

A reminder that Monday (8th February) is ART DAY at Newdale!  🎨

Your class teachers will have already sent you the options of things to take part in for this day, so we hope you have had a look and selected which creative activities you would most like to do! We can’t wait to see them.

Don’t forget that one option was the handprint art, along with Grandparent handprints and that you may even like to host your own virtual/telephone tea-party with grandparents this week.

If your child is in school on Monday, then they are welcome to bring in their Grandparent’s handprints (digital, posted outlines, etc) into school to complete in class. Please remember to name the back of them so we know which hands belong to who!

Have fun everybody 🤗

Google classroom

Just a reminder there is a daily letters and sounds activity available after 9.30 and an end of day story after 2.30 on Google classroom.  If you have missed any the links are still available in the classwork section.  Enjoy!

Home learning

More and more evidence of fantastic home learning going on with Mighty Oaks children.

There’s all sorts of activities going on, I’m so pleased to see you getting creative and even exploring science ideas and different story endings.

We’re all pleased that you’ve managed to access the online classes and home stories, your children’s responses through evidence me to them have been great. Keep them coming 🥰

Hopefully see you soon

Mrs Giordano and team.

Google classroom

Thank you to everyone for the wonderful responses today regarding the google classroom activities.  There will be further letters and sounds activities available after 9.30am on the 4th, 5th and 8th of February for those children who are self-isolating.  Please feel free to access them as well if your child is at home on those days.  In addition, there will be an end of session story available after 2.30 on the dates previously listed.

Please let us know your child’s responses via evidence me, thank you.

Enjoy!

Google classroom

Just a reminder if you are trying to use google classroom, please use your child’s email address and password sent via evidence me.  You won’t be able to access the site using your own personal details.  However, I can tell that we have had plenty of families logging on successfully which is wonderful news.

Nursery online learning

Unfortunately, not all of the children will be able to attend nursery for the next few days and we would love to invite you to join us in google classroom.  Just pop over daily to see what is available for you to access.  Tomorrow we would love you to join us for a letters and sounds session available after 9.30 (if you log on before you won’t be able to access it).  This session can be reached any time after 9.30 in order for you to fit it around any other commitments you may have.  In addition, there is an end of day story available after 2.30.  This time the links are only going to be available on google classroom.  Do let us know if you have any issues and we will do our best to support you.  We have been told by our IT department that devices using older software may not be successful in playing the lessons, so you may want to see if you have more recent software installed.

Keep safe everyone and hope to see you all again soon.

ART DAY MONDAY 8TH FEBRUARY

We are delighted to announce that on Monday 8th February we are holding an Art Day! This is for both the children in school and those who are learning from home.

Your class teachers will be posting the activities for you to access at home either on the website or via your Google Classroom this week so you will have plenty of time to get prepared (we have however, tried to think of ways to get creative without an abundance of resources. You will hopefully have most of the things you need already available at home.)

We have included a range of ideas such as laundry art, and pencil sketching amongst other things, so that you can simply choose the things that you like best. We have included things that your child should be able to do independently to provide you with some much needed time.

One idea that we would love for you to take part in is our ‘Handprint’ art, in which we are hoping to make a display of back in school. Details will be on your year group sheet. You can draw round and decorate your handprint in any way you like and with whatever you have, e.g pens, pencils, buttons, paper, bits of material, glitter etc.

We are aware that normally we would be holding our annual Grandparents’ tea-party at this time of year and that unfortunately not only can we not do this  at the moment, but for many of us, we are unable to see Grandparents’ currently. Therefore, we thought if you would like to and are able to, you might like to also create a Grandparent handprint to decorate. You could do this by asking them to send a handprint image of their hand digitally, or they could even draw round their hand and post it to you which you could decorate when quarantined. If this is something they can’t do, you can always draw your own version to represent their handprint.

One final suggestion, to keep the tradition going if at all possible, is to set up your own virtual tea-party with Grandparents’ at home. Have a cup of tea and a piece of cake together and just enjoy having a chat as we would have done if possible back in school. You could do this via a video call, or even a normal telephone call.

We would love to know how you get on.

Have a great day everybody and get creative!

Homeschooling and fun in the snow

Good morning

We’re all still so happy to see evidence of home schooling coming through the evidence me app.

Lots of you have been focusing on your next steps set to you from your key workers. Some beautiful handwriting and reading along side some fabulous maths work, well done all of you.

Here at Mighty Oaks this week we’ve had fun in the snow. We used the snow to mould and build and then we explored ideas the children may of had by testing their theories out. Great fun all round.
