Trampoline Athlon

A massive round of applause to Ella and Ethan Wood who came up with the idea of doing a trampoline- Athlon to raise money for The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. What a wonderful thing you did and we all at Newdale School and Nursery are so, so proud of you both. I believe you raised more than you thought, this is great news and going towards a much needed course. So again from us all here Well done super stars. ✨🌈❤️👏

Tuesday’s phonics challenge

I hope your child enjoyed dipping their toes into phase 3 yesterday.  I have planned another activity at the same level, please select phase 3 j,v,w,x,y,z,zz and qu whilst playing Dragon’s den on phonics play.  This is a game they will have played with you before but are now tackling it at a slightly higher level.  Again, please select phase 2 though if they are still finding that level enough of a challenge.

Nursery Activities Tuesday 19th May

Good morning nursery :)

This afternoons suggested activity will need the sunshine (shadows). If the sun is shining this morning you could always swap the activities around to suit.

Also, tomorrow’s afternoon activity includes a ‘frozen ocean’. I thought I would mention this now so you could freeze some small world figures in water overnight. Any small world figures are fine to use if you do not have fish. If you have a takeaway container you could maybe freeze them in there.

Enjoy your day, take care.

Monday’s phonics challenge

Happy Monday everyone!

Today I’d like your child to try a new game on Phonics play called Grab a giggling grapheme.  As your child is likely to be pretty confident with all or most of phase 2 now I’d like you to select the game at phase 3 and add on the sounds j,v,w,x,y,z,zz and qu.  Of course, if you don’t feel that they are ready for this please feel free to stick with phase 2.  Hope they enjoy the game.

Nursery Activities Monday 18th May

Good morning nursery, we hope you all had a lovely weekend :)

As always, a new week means a new theme! This week we are excited to get stuck into some fun ‘Science Investigations’. We are looking forward to seeing all of your photos :)

Monday- 18th-May-Activity

It is our last week before half term so we would like this week to be as fun as possible!

Enjoy the sunshine, take care.

Friday’s phonics challenge

Happy Friday!

Today please can you repeat “Flash cards speed trial” on phonics play choosing the same set of letters as last time.  Explain to your child their time and score from last time and set them the challenge to improve on it e.g. if they managed 15 correctly last week can they manage 16 today?  Good luck!

Nursery Activities Friday 15th May

It’s Funky Friday nursery!

Please see below our final suggested activities for the theme this week.

The activity this morning includes a PowerPoint we have used in nursery called ‘Smartie The Penguin’. Join in with Mummy Penguin’s song and follow the adventures of Smartie the Penguin as he learns how to be safe on the internet.

Make Your Own Bird Cakes

Hi nursery 👋

This afternoon’s suggested activity includes making something tasty for birds to eat.

So, I thought I would show you and make my own bird cake/fat ball. They are so quick and easy to do!  Be prepared for your hands to get a bit sticky!!

I used a recipe from the RSPB website to make sure they are safe for birds. Once they have set in the fridge, I will be hanging them in the shade.

My ingredients included sunflower and pumpkin seeds and lard. You can find the recipe, a step by step guide and different ingredients here:

We would love to see your photos if you try making them 🐦😊

Thursday’s phonics challenge

Happy Thursday everyone.  I have rather a cute game for you today.  In this one the children need to match capital letters to their lower case versions.  Children do need to start to see both versions of letters as this will help them when reading and writing names and words at the start of sentences.  Just use the link below and pick up the corresponding bunnies and place them in the field.  When you are successful the bunnies’ water bottle appears!
