Grandparents Tea Party- Nursery

Grandparents Tea Party – Nursey

Monday 17th October 2022

We are excited to announce that we will once more be holding our annual grandparent’s tea party on Monday 17th October 2022 for nursery children who attend on a Monday afternoon.

We respectfully ask that only Grandparents attend this event. Please could all Nursery Grandparents arrive at either the Ladybugs entrance or the rear garden entrance for Mighty Oaks ( depending on which class your child attends) for 2.15pm where you will then be able to spend 15 minutes in  your Grandchild’s class (if you have more than one child, we will try to gather them all together!).

At 2.30pm you will be invited to come to come to one of our refreshment areas with your Grandchildren for tea and cake / biscuits. We know it is tempting to sneak extra treats for your Grandchildren, but please do not, as we will only have catered for Grandparents. Children will get a biscuit!

Just before home time, your Grandchildren will return to nursery, and you will be asked to leave via the main entrance near the office. If you are taking your Grandchildren home, then you will be asked to sign them out from the nursery before entering the hall.

Safeguarding: please remember that if you are not the usual person collecting, the teacher will need prior notice that you are authorised to collect – this is best noted by the child’s parent in their home school book.

For Grandparents to attend this event confirmation will be needed via your child’s Parent Pay account.

This year we would like to link this event to the launch of our new GATEWAY project.  We are hopeful that some of our grandparents might be able to donate non-perishable food items or toiletries towards this project. These donations will undoubtedly support some of our families in our local community as everyone is feeling the pressure due to the cost of living.

Earth day

The nursery will be participating in Earth day on Thursday 20th October and we would value your support in this.  We would love to show children how we can reuse junk to play with and make models.  Please can you start to collect items for junk modelling ready to send in on the 20th.  We would love any clean cardboard (no toilet rolls) and clean plastic such as yoghurt pots.

In addition, if possible can your child wear something green that day.  This could be a hair bobble or sock.  Please don’t feel that you have to go out and buy anything new.

Thank you again for your support

Lisa Curnow

Homegrown vegetables

What a treat to see our homegrown vegetables being pulled up and eaten yesterday. It was a really special moment to see their little faces full of excitement. We had a little nibble of the carrots at snack time and with the ones left our we fed them to the on-site Guinea pig Who was very happy with her fresh treat.

PE SESSIONS

We’re are delighted to say that we are back to doing PE sessions with Mr Acton and Mr Bryant on a Monday morning ( am children only ) all your child will need for these sessions is sensible footwear and a warm coat for the cooler days fast approaching us.

Treeific Tuesdays

The first of our treeific Tuesday’s started today with making super sausage rolls in cooking club working towards their culinary skills and fine motor movements. They did a great job and I may have tasted one just to make sure they were good, I can confirm it was yummy.

The weather didn’t stop forest school club either! They put on their wellies, wrapped up warm and went on a Autumn walk.

Learning about the environment and it’s changes the children collected what they had found ready to put into our Autumn sensory tuff spot, were we can talk about what happens to them each day as they decay. 👨🏿‍🍳👩🏻‍🍳🍂🍁
