Settling in Mighty Oaks

It’s been a very busy two weeks here in Mighty Oaks! 🌳
The children have been very curious and interested to explore the new and familiar experiences around them. From the role play area ‘ space rocket’ theme book ‘ what ever next ‘ to the physical and large construction outside.
In our creative areas we allowed them to experiment with a range of media tools and materials to finish the Zog display.🐲

This weeks focus learning was listening.👂
Where we have listened to our friends stories of their holidays and showing their special toys. ⭐️
The circle time was a great time in our small groups to explore sounds, in a listening activity and walk around the school.
They all enjoyed taking part in action songs by moving, singing and dancing while making sounds with the musical instruments.🎶

In adult lead learning time we’ve been looking at where the children are towards learning and achieving Autumn milestone🍁
Maths focus 🧮was the value of number 1 and touch counting up to 10. Literacy focus 📚was looking at books and talking about them.

Indoor and outdoor PE sessions got off to a great start !
Children really enjoyed this time to move around and negotiate space, by running, jumping, climbing, throwing, and so much more. We have some pretty impressive movers especially in ball control. 🤸🏽

Next week we are Looking at the story ‘ whatever next ‘ in depth to learn new vocabulary and recall a four part sequence of the book, and it’s characters, it’s important they learn a structure of beginning, middle and end to widen their own vocabulary and skills in story telling. 🧸🚀

Cooking/ forest sessions will begin on Tuesday please bring wellies. Cooking we are taking part of the theme book where the bear makes his own sandwiches for his trip to the moon and learning where our ingredients come from.
In the forest area children will be given this opportunity to explore the great outdoors. Sounds like fun ! 🧑🏾‍🍳🌲

School site parking

Dear Parents/Carers,

Similarly, to most other schools, we have parking issues at the beginning and end of each day. Many schools do not even allow access to Blue Badge holders at any point during the day.

We want to be able to continue offering Blue Badge holders access, but do ask that you do not move your vehicles whilst we are at our busiest time with very many young children and pushchairs moving around the site. Please wait until it has quietened down before moving.

Please note that disabled parking spaces on school site, are for blue badge holders only.

Recently it has been noted that some parents without a disabled badge are parking in the disabled bays, even though there are normal spaces available.

Please can we stress how important it is to leave these spaces clear, even if you think it is only for a few minutes.

We continually monitor our school site and of course safety is of paramount importance. If we believe our site is becoming in anyway dangerous, we would have to reconsider all access arrangements moving forward.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Health Strategy Survey

Dear Parents/Carers,

The Telford Health Improvement team and I would be really grateful to parents if they could spend just a few minutes filling in the attached survey.

As an incentive, we are offering a £25 Love2Shop voucher to one lucky person who does!

All you have to do is fill in the survey, then let the office staff know you have. They will collect names and then one lucky person will be pulled out of a hat!

It is really important that we gather community thoughts on health matters in our borough, as your opinions really do drive change and the offer we have across Telford.

The survey is live until 2nd October.  Link to survey attached below.

Pastoral Team update

Dear Parents/Carers,

As many of you will have noticed, Mrs Powell is not with us at the moment. Mrs Powell is very much missing her role in Newdale and we are all very much missing Mrs Powell.

She is not well enough to carry out her role at this time and I know you will all join me in wishing her well.

In the short term, Mrs Poole, our SENDco is leading the Pastoral team with Mrs Byrne-Corbett and Mrs Cooper supporting.

We are unsure as to when Mrs Powell will return but felt it important to update everyone as I know some parents and children have been asking.

If you need to contact a member of the Pastoral team, you can do on Newdale.inclusion@taw.org.uk or catch them on duty at the beginning and end of each day.

Kind regards,

Miss Cook
