Wonderful Wednesday

In Mighty oaks we will be swapping over the children’s groups who go to the forest, please see the list below for the changes.  If your child is due to go to the woods on a Wednesday please can you send them in with named wellies in addition to the shoes they are wearing that day.  They will also need long sleeved tops and trousers/leggings in case of any nettles.

In the morning orange, blue and purple group will be in the woods whilst yellow, green and red group will be cooking.

In the afternoon yellow, green and red group will be in the woods whilst orange, blue and purple will be cooking.

If you are unsure which group your child is in please just ask.

Thank you in advance

Help wanted!

Can anyone help?  Nursery is currently setting up a travel based role play area and we really need some donations of bags.  These could be suitcases, smaller style rucksacks, hand bags, purses, wallets or fabric shopping bags.  They just need to be the type of bag that we travel with.

Please drop off any donations at the main reception.

Thank you in advance from everyone in nursery

Ongoing Parking Issues

28.3.22

Dear Parents/Carers,

We completely understand that the location of our school is not ideal when considering access and parking for parents when dropping off and picking up. We are in the middle of an ever-growing residential area and are already hard pushed to fit all staff cars on site.

We receive regular complaints from residents about parking and access issues. Recently, a resident from Laurel Lane, Overdale called to relay an unpleasant confrontation involving one of our parents. The resident was returning home from work and unable to park outside her house due to a significant number of cars blocking the way. I believe that residents understand there is a school near by and therefore there will be two key points in the day where it is likely to be busy. What they do not understand is the levels of aggression they are receiving from some of our parents when they ask them to move so they can park on their own spaces/drives.

There are a lot of elderly residents living in the vicinity mentioned and we know that on one occasion the minibus that was trying to drop off residents, simply could not get near the houses. Of course, this is an issue when looking at emergency service access too.

As mentioned, we know that location of the school is not ideal, and we know the solution is not easy. We are keen to remain friends with our neighbours and want to support them as much as we can. We have advised that they call the police if they are continually verbally abused or find continuous illegal parking.

Please can you help us by respecting our neighbours and thinking about where you park. It maybe that parking further away, car sharing or allowing children to cycle could go some way to helping with the solution.

Thank you for your support,
