Sea legs theatre’s puppet show

What a treat! We were all very lucky today to have Rob Ashman come visit us from the Sea leg Theatre with the show little Bo peep. He started the show of nicely with some nursery rhymes and began to make Bo peep a cake for her 4th birthday. Of course along the way he came across some cheeky characters like the mouse trying to steal away the ingredients.

Ask your children if they can remember parts of the show and the other puppets name’s, it was very funny. Thank you Rob for joining us today hope to see you again soon.

Please see the link below for a trailer of the show.

Remembrance Day

Reception learnt about why people wear poppies at this time of year. We marked the day with a two minute silence at 11am and made our very own poppies.
We also watched a special animation to try and learn about Remembrance. It shows the Great War experienced by animal inhabitants of the WW1 battlefield. You may like to watch this again at home:

Here are the poppies we created today…

Friendship Week in Reception : Week Beginning 15th November

FRIENDSHIP WEEK 2021
Friendship week is week commencing 15th November here at Newdale primary. We will be looking at the importance of friendship and how to be a good friend.

On Monday 15th November, your child is invited to bring in a special ‘teddy bear’ friend from home to join us in celebrating friendship week.
Please label with your name so we can ensure your teddy goes home safely.

Please note this is just for the Reception Children.

Many thanks The Reception Team

Diwali

The children have been learning some more about Diwali which was celebrated on Thursday 4th November. We worked together to listen to an information book all about Diwali and we learnt about the ways they celebrate. As part of our music session we listened to some traditional music and performed dances and actions throughout. We noticed that the tempo of music changed and understand that tempo means how fast or slow the music is. We have also been taking part in some arts and crafts activities linked to the festivals.

Christmas plans!

Dear parents / carers,

We are now on the Christmas countdown, and we wanted to let you know of how we intend to celebrate Christmas this year. It has been a while since we were able to plan anything and even though we are unsure of what the situation with Covid will be by the end of term, we wanted to share with you our plans.

Our Basecamp at the area at the front of school will be turned into a ‘Winter Wonderland’ experience. We have asked the elves to start planning this wonderful event!

We will be inviting one class at a time to visit the Winter Wonderland experience and each child will be allowed to invite one adult to accompany them – this may be any adult you would like to attend. We know that some parents will be disappointed as only one adult can attend per child, but we have to play it as safely as we can in order to protect children and staff as we approach the Christmas holiday. Please can we ask that you stick to one adult so that we can manage numbers safely.  The experience will last approximately one hour, with the exception of our Nursery classes, which will be approximately half an hour.  Activities will include carol singing and an activity which you and your child can share. There will be a small gift for every child in the class. We will be offering hot chocolate and a festive treat to all who attend and only ask that you bring your own mug for your and your child (we are doing our bit for the environment!) and make a donation which this year is going towards purchases for the All Nations Community Grocery  communitygrocery.org.uk/telford

On the day of the experience, children will be invited to come to school in their Christmas jumpers / hats – you are more than welcome to get into the spirit too!

The dates and times for each class are as follows –

Year 5 Miss Harrison –  Friday 10th December at 11am

Year 6 Miss Clay – Tuesday 14th December at 9.15am

Nursery will be taking part in this event along with the school, but dates and times will be advertised separately on the nursery website page.

We will be watching the weather forecast closely and we hope that the weather is on our side! Likewise, we will be monitoring the situation with regards to covid and following all recommended guidance. Should we need to make any changes, we will try to let you know as soon as possible.

We hope that you will be able to join us in celebrating Christmas this year.

Kind regards

Miss Cook

Concerns of parking outside school

Dear Parents/Carers,

We have again been approached by a local resident who has stressed concerns that parking and movement of vehicles near her home is becoming a real issue. The resident reports that numerous cars block her driveway and  use it to turn around, with many vehicles being driven erratically and way too fast.

They go on to say that they understand that it is difficult for parents, as the school site isn’t ideal by way of accessibility, however a lot of the movement of vehicles is unsafe and they worry that a nasty accident could happen.

Please can we remind you to drive carefully, park respectfully and where possible leave vehicles further away from the school and walk in.

Thank you for your support in this.

Bonfire Night Celebrations 🔥 🎇

In Reception, we have been learning about Bonfire Night. We now know who Guy Fawkes was and why we celebrate Bonfire night.

We talked about ways to stay safe on bonfire night and even took part in a quiz!
We created our own firework pictures using black card and bright pastels.

Have a fun, colourful and safe weekend everybody.
