Home Learning Year 2 – Maths w/c 30th March

Alongside the activities we have been setting on Purple Mash for maths, we thought it would be a nice idea to try using the White Rose materials. These have been specifically prepared for parents and children while the schools are closed to help continue with studies at home.

Each day you need to watch the video first at:

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/

(We are starting from week 2, as week 1 has already been covered in school).

Monday Lesson 1 – Recognising a third

Tuesday Lesson 2 – Find a third

Wednesday Lesson 3 – Unit fractions

Thursday Lesson 4 – Non-unit fractions

Friday Lesson 5 – Equivalence of a half and two quarters

Answer the questions which are on the worksheets (see links below) – you can print this out or complete in your homework book or on a piece of paper. You can then upload a photo of it to the homework blog for us to see.

Please e-mail us via Purple Mash is you have any problems.

Best wishes,

Miss Newport and Miss Jones

Year 2 Home Learning 27.03.2020

Hello Year 2!

Thank you for sending us all of your wonderful work and messages.  It is great to see that you are all working so hard.

Here are the 2dos for you to complete today:

Why not try doing some cooking this weekend? Jamie Oliver has pulled together a list of recipes that cover breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks and they are all perfect for small sous-chefs (with a bit of help, of course!).

Remember to upload any photos to the homework blog.

Have a lovely weekend,

From Miss Newport and Miss Jones :-)

More phonics support…

We hope you are finding Miss Hammond’s videos helpful, along with the Read, Write, Inc videos we advertised yesterday.

Another fantastic help in this difficult time is provided by the website: https://new.phonicsplay.co.uk/

Your child will be familiar with some of their games. They are now providing FREE games.

Monday 23rd March in KS1 Hub 🙂

We had a great first day in the KS1 hub. We made the most of the lovely weather and went on a little walk around the school grounds. We used our senses to describe the things we could see, hear, smell and feel and challenged ourselves to write descriptions using two adjectives and a comma. When we returned, we spent some time in the sunshine and drew a picture of some of the things we had seen. We also spent some time practising our spellings and playing a 1 more or 1 less Maths game. As a special treat, at the end of the day, we got to play a board game outside.

We would love to see some of the learning and outdoor activities that you have been doing at home – you can share your work and photos on the blog 🙂

Year 2 Home Learning – Tuesday 24th March 2020

Maths – Today we would like you to login to Purple Mash and spend some time looking at odd and even numbers up to 100.  You could play this game (which we have set as a To Do!)

Literacy – Look at the jumping orange word story that we uploaded on Monday 23rd March.  Can you write your own? Make it as imaginative and as silly as you would like! You could upload your story to the homework blog or email it to your teacher.
