Achievement Assembly

Friday 27th September 

It has been another busy week at Newdale! This week saw the arrival of Cool Cat, who was very excited to meet and greet the children, as well as a visit from the Mayor to our KS2 assembly. On Thursday, the children took part in a variety of activities including food tasting, art, flag making and music as part of European Languages Day. We have also been celebrating British Values Week and so our assembly this week is themed around our ‘Citizens of the Week.’

Please note that KS1 children had their assembly in their classrooms this week and so are not featured in the photograph. 

BeSMART Cup winners who will have a special treat next week:  

Cool Cat has awarded his attendance award to Miss Fisher’s class for an amazing 99.5% attendance.

The BeSMART cup also goes to Mrs Churm’s class for displaying great behaviour during play times this week.

Achievers of the week: 

Year 6 achievers: Shanel for having a such positive attitude to learning and demonstrating excellent perseverance with her Chance to Shine. Harry for being such a respectful, kind and caring member of the class.  

Year 5 achievers:  Ein for always following the school’s and Britain’s value of respect. She is a kind-hearted, considerate member of the class who respects adults and peers alike. Naomi for being a polite, respectful member of the class everyday and having a great attitude towards her learning. 

Year 4 achievers: Paisley-Violet for being kind, patient and helpful to adults and other children. Theo for upholding all the British Values especially during school parliament voting.  

Year 3 achievers: Joe for a wonderful moral compass and always following our BeSMART code. Poppy for always following the BeSMART code and having an amazing attitude to learning.  

Year 2 achievers: Zion, for showing great respect and understanding during our British values week. Oscar for his respectful, hardworking and enthusiastic attitude to learning.  

Year 1 achievers: Mrs Evan’s achiever for being a kind and helpful member of the class. Emily for being a kind friend and always comforting those who need it. She is reliable, responsible and super mature and we love having her in the class.  

Year R achievers: Hilda for her enthusiasm to all our learning, trying her best with every activity she completes including our European Languages Day ones. She came to life sharing so much knowledge about her Italian culture and her friends loved hearing all about it.  Ilya for a fantastic week, displaying such a positive attitude to learning. We are so proud 😀  

Readers of the week – these children were entered into our weekly reading raffle: 

Year 6 readers: Seb for detailed, thoughtful comments in his diary since the start of term. Demi for her commitment and dedication to reading and for writing detailed comments.  

Year 5 readers: Hebe for consistently reading every night with detailed reading comments.  George for showing great enthusiasm with a range of reading and great comments in his reading diary. 

Year 4 readers: Lily-Maw for improving and being enthusiastic about her reading and improvement in her RWI work with Miss Cooper. Tiger-Lily for reading every night this week and sharing some fascinating facts from her book. 

Year 3 readers: Lucas for accepting my reading challenge and writing detailed comments in his reading diary. Well done Lucas. Alex for a general enthusiasm for reading, wanting to always have a book in his hands.  

Year 2 readers: Mayra for high quality comments every evening. She also applies what she’s been learning in literacy in her written diary comments. Addison for her independent writing in her reading diary.  

Year 1 readers: Caitlyn for reading every night, completing all homework tasks and answering her weekly question in brilliant detail. Albie for reading every night at home and recording it! Well done Albie!

As another week draws to a close, we continue to be so impressed by how well the children are settling back into school life. We have been particularly impressed with their behaviour during play times (when it has not been raining!) and how popular the after-school clubs have been. Teachers have been busy planning lots of exciting trips and opportunities for the children which we look forward to sharing with you in due course.

Achievers of the week:

Year 6 achievers: Kayson for consistently demonstrating fantastic focus/effort in all lessons and a superb attitude to his learning. Isabella for continuing to be a great role model to her peers and always willing to help in whatever way she can. 

Year 5 achievers:  Kalyan for excellent work produced in all subjects to a high quality. Tiana for showing a super attitude towards her work and already achieving her pen licence. 

Year 4 achievers: Archie for excellent work on the importance of the River Nile to the Ancient Egyptians. Clark for enthusiastic participation in class discussions and always doing his best work.  

Year 3 achievers: Seb for his enthusiasm and recall of key facts in History lessons. Kira for always showing great focus in our lessons and having a superb attitude to learning. 

Year 2 achievers: Ted for trying his best to be independent and his enthusiasm when working, achieving and following the Be Smart code. Elizabeth, for trying hard in all subjects and presenting her work neatly   

Year 1 achievers: Natalie for working extremely hard in literacy and maths, always listening in lessons and having a positive attitude to learning. Mrs Evan’s and Mrs Sturrock’s star of the week is Farida for always having a positive attitude to learning and coming into school every day with a beautiful, big smile on her face. 

 

Readers of the week – these children were entered into our weekly reading raffle: 

Year 6 readers: Toby for making great use of ASC to ensure he read 5 times. Eshaal for listening to the advice to read over the weekend to easily get more than 5 weekly reads in – well done. 

Year 5 readers: Grace for consistently reading at home this week with fantastic questions and detailed answers. Maddy for showing amazing enthusiasm for her reading since starting year 5. 

Year 4 readers: Hannah for excellent use of evidence from the text during Guided Reading sessions. Basit for showing a real love for reading with detailed comments in his diary.  

Year 3 readers: Gracie for reading lots at home this week and being a speedy reader! Well done Gracie. Joe for continuous reading at home and using the text to support his answers in lessons.  

Year 2 readers: Billy for reading daily, answering questions and writing independently in his diary. Muna, for the most detailed summary of what she is reading and often adding a question too! 

Year 1 readers: Harry for completing many reads over the week and writing his own answers to the questions with fantastic extended sentences. Iris for reading every day at home and working so hard to become a fluent reader but to also understand what she is reading!  

Haberdashers’ Adams Test Familarisation

Dr Hibbs from Haberdashers’ Adams will be in school on 16/7 for a 1 hour entrance test familiarisation session. This session is open to all boys and girls who selected to share data with Haberdashers’ Adams on the West Midlands Grammar Schools entrance test registration form.
Please complete this form so that school can be informed which children will attend. Achievement Assembly

Friday 28th June 2024 

The weather did not disappoint again this week as we began our charity events in EYFs with their sponsored walk around the school grounds. We were so proud of the children’s efforts and Cool Cat was thoroughly impressed too! The week ended with the year 2 residential to Ironbridge. The children behaved so well and all had a brilliant time – a special thanks to all the staff members involved.

Year 6 achievers: Summer for amazing progress and effort for her solo. Lucas for excellent decision making and leadership skill shown at Crucial Crew 😊  

Year 5 achievers: Kayson for an excellent effort in all lessons this week, being helpful in the classroom and a really positive attitude. Katie for continuing to have a positive attitude to her work.  

Year 4 achievers: CJ for always demonstrating the BeMART code. He makes school enjoyable for everyone and is a kind and caring member of the class. Lawrencia Frimpong for her responsible and mature attitude and for always being ready to learn.  

Year 3 achievers: Rosie for always giving 110% in every lesson, wanting to know more and complete more work every day. Noah for being really focused on our lessons this week and contributing lots of ideas to the class.  

Year 1 achievers: Dola for being a ray of sunshine in our classroom, radiating positivity and always giving 110% in everything she does. Addison for always being kind and following the Be SMART Code. 

Readers of the week – these children were entered into our weekly reading raffle along with last week’s super winners. Therefore, TWO books were chosen this week: 

Year 6 readers: Emilia for great use of the Read Theory Programme. Sophie for consistently detailed reading and comments in her reading diary every single day!  

Year 5 readers: Reyhan, who could be Star Reader every week, always writing super comments and reading at least 5 times. Holly, who always goes above and beyond with her reading each week.  Holly was the lucky raffle winner!

Year 4 readers: Miss McCullagh’s Star Reader for always trying his best when answering VIPER questions. Aidan for his fantastic comic strip and, as always, detailed diary comments.  

Year 3 readers: Ryan for working really hard on his partner reading in guided reading sessions. Jazper for reading lots of new texts at home this week.

Year 1 readers: Emilia for reading at home and writing her own comments in her diary. Stefanie for reading every night and completing extra tasks at home. 

Year 5 Drama Workshops

Year 5 had a brilliant visit to Langley this week to take part in a drama workshop. The children participated in a range of warm up exercises and then worked in groups to create their own piece of drama based on a haunted house scene.

We are looking forward to working with Langley again in the future.

Year 5 trip to Severn Valley Country Park

Year 5 had a great trip to Severn Valley Country Park yesterday. We were really pleased with their behaviour and how well they represented Newdale. The instructor was particularly impressed with their excellent knowledge of rivers!
