School Visit Costs

School visit costs

As a school, we are committed to ensuring that all of our children continue to have a variety of opportunities to engage through a wide range of trips and visits. We believe that these experiences help to provide meaningful learning opportunities, as well as support children with their personal development.

As many of you may already be aware, as a school we subsidise our school visits using our own funds as well as money raised from school events. Although our budgets are certainly becoming tighter, we still appreciate that the cost of living has caused many families to also have financial concerns. Where we can, we will continue to contribute towards school trips so that parents are still not paying the full cost. However, our levels of subsidy simply cannot remain as high as they have always been in the past due to budget constraints.

We have a had number of parents who have asked if they could contribute extra amounts towards trips to support those in our school community who may be struggling due to the cost-of-living crisis. If you would like to do this,  please contribute via ParentPay. Every penny will go towards the trip costs.

We thankyou for your ongoing support.

Keeping Children Safe

Newdale’s Safeguarding priority is to ensure that our school community is a place where everyone feels they belong and that they feel safe.

We all have a responsibility to keep our children safe: in school and at home. Everyone who comes into contact with children and families has a role to play. It is important that we all know what to look out for, know why children can be vulnerable and how they can be manipulated into harmful situations and exploited.

We know that reading information about safeguarding can sometimes be an uncomfortable read, but it is vital that we all know of the ways we can keep our children safe and how to act should there be any concerns. This short guide shares some information about contextualised safeguarding (within our community), signs to look out for and pathways for support and reporting.

Contextual safeguarding recognises that the different relationships that young people form in their neighbourhoods, schools and online can unfortunately feature violence and abuse. It is our responsibility to ensure that we are protecting children within our community from harm.

Within this guide, we have included useful links for parents and carers to help offer extra information as well as routes for support if needed.

Many thanks

Miss Cook

Keeping children and their families in our community safe 2024-25

Halloween Event

Dear Parents/Carers,

We will be holding a Halloween School Event on Friday 25th October after lunch. Children must come into school in their school uniform. They will then be able to change into their Halloween outfits or simply dress down after lunch (please label all items). Staff will be running a disco in the hall and carrying out Halloween fun events in the classroom. Children will go home in their outfits.

We appreciate that not all parents want their children to take part in Halloween events. If that is the case, please do let your child’s teacher know through the home school communication book. We will prepare something non-Halloween themed for them to enjoy.

Due to the Y6 trip and Y5 swimming on this day, they will have their Halloween event the day before on Thursday 24th October.

Kind regards

Miss Cook

Harvest

As part of our harvest celebration this year, we will be collecting food for local food banks. If you’re able to, please bring in tinned or dried goods, which have at least a month left on their date, on Thursday 10th October. We will be showing the children all the kind donations during our Achievement Assembly on Friday 11th October.

Macmillan Fundraising – Thank You 🌟🏆

We wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all of our school community who have supported and contributed to our fundraising efforts for Macmillan this year. From supporting on our sponsored walks (both at school for our younger children and up the Wrekin for our older children) and attending our Grandparents’ Coffee Afternoon, we couldn’t be more thankful to our wider school community.  Today, we revealed our unbelievable total and we, of course, wanted to share this with you too. ‘Mighty, mighty Newdale‘ have raised a massive £10,676.22 for Macmillan Cancer Support and we know that this money will go very far in supporting our local community.  Thank you!

Congratulations Rockstars! Aidan received the trophy on behalf of his class as he had the highest number of days active on TTRS.

House Points

At Newdale, one of the ways our pupils are rewarded for their efforts, in work and behaviour, is house points. Each pupil belongs to 1 of 4 houses; Wenlock, Wrekin, Severn and Ironbridge. This year, the house team with the highest number of house points at the end of each half-term, will earn a special house celebration (full of lots of fun games and activities). Each week, we share the running totals in assembly but as we are now half way through the half-term, we thought we would share them with our wider community too. 3 more weeks to go and there’s only 10 house points between first and fourth… it is still all to play for!

Will you earn a house point for your team next week?
