Year 5- Greece

Year 6- Germany

The children are invited to come into school wearing the colours of the flag that they are celebrating.

Parking at key busy times

We completely understand that the location of our school is not ideal when considering access and parking for parents when dropping off and picking up. We are located in the middle of an ever-growing residential area and are already hard pushed to fit all staff cars on site.

We have had recent concerns shared by parents regarding individuals parking by the junction near Brooks Avenue. This is making access in this area difficult and affecting the potential safety of children, parents and other pedestrians.

Please can you help us by parking safety and considering others access when driving and walking. It maybe that parking further away, car sharing or allowing children to cycle could go some way into helping with the solution. We will also contact the PCSO team to see if they can support at these times.

Thank you for your support in this ongoing tricky issue.

Harvest Donations

As part of our harvest celebration this year, we will be collecting food for local food banks. If you’re able to, please bring in tinned or dried goods, which have at least a month left on their date, on Thursday 10th October. We will be showing the children all the kind donations during our Achievement Assembly on Friday 11th October.

Many thanks in advance

Macmillan Grandparents’ Tea Party – Friday 27th September 2024

We are pleased to share more details about our final fundraising event linked to our hugely successful ‘Climb against Cancer’ last term. We are inviting all of our wonderful grandparents whose children attend the nursery on a Friday afternoon to our Macmillan Grandparents’ Tea Party ☺. All profits from our Grandparents’ Tea Party will be added to the money already raised for Macmillan.  The week after our Tea Party we will be able to reveal the total amount we have raised with the support of our wider school community; we know the children are going to feel so proud to have been a part of such a big event!

The attached leaflet contains key information about this special event.

Newdale Coffee Morning – 27.09.24

Further details

All details for how to purchase tickets will be on Parent Pay from Thursday 12th September 2024. Access to the event will be via the school office. Grandparents can take their grandchild/children home afterwards; however, parents will need to give their permission via Parent Pay to do so. Teachers will have a class list to tick off children going home early and grandparents will then be asked to sign them out as they walk out of the office at the end of the event.

To try and reduce overcrowding, there will be two sittings.

As it states on the leaflet, the Nursery for children who attend on a Friday afternoon only, Reception, Y1 and Y2 grandparents’ slot is 1:15-2:15pm.

Y3-Y6 grandparents is 2:15-3pm. If a grandparent is visiting a Y3-6 child as well as one from Nursery, Reception or Y1/2, please can they attend the second slot. e.g. a grandparent with a Y4 and Y1 grandchild would attend at 2:15pm.

All baked goods will be sold for £1. This will be cash only and please note, we will not be able to give change at this event.

During the afternoon, we are excited to announce that BBC Radio Shropshire may be at Newdale speaking to grandparents’ and children as well potentially creating photograph and/or video footage to share via their and our social media platforms.

We are all really looking forward to celebrating this event with you and hopefully reaching our target amount for Macmillan! We will announce the total sum raised the following week where we will present a cheque to Macmillan. The Shropshire Star will be in attendance so that all of our efforts are recognised across the whole of our town.

Many thanks

Site Access

 Dear Parents/Carers,

I have now completed a site walk and can update you concerning access.

The top gate and top car park will remain closed as the work is completed. We anticipate this to be for approximately 4 weeks.

The main gate and the gate by the Year 6 classrooms will be open. We are also temporarily opening the double gates to the rear of the reception outdoor play area.

This will mean that we have a route open that goes right around the school and therefore everyone will be able to get where they need to be.

Teachers and Teaching Assistants will be visible to help with finding the correct classes. We will also have a good number of other staff outside to assist.

With the top car park being out of action, we are going to have to prioritise staff parking on site for this short time. This will mean our visitor car park will mainly be full of staff cars. We are leaving the 3 disabled spaces free and the 3 spaces next to them free for our visitors and for blue badge holders.

We are concerned about breakfast club drop off time as we know this is a time that this car park is used significantly. Please make alternative arrangements if you can for this short period of time. It is unavoidable and I can assure you that the contractors are working really hard to finish the work as quickly as they can.

Thank you for your understanding.

Regards,

Miss Cook
