Curriculum governors involvement in school

Governors met yesterday as part of our Curriculum Committee. They focussed on the Special Educational Needs offer in the school and listened to the SENDco describe how the most complex needs children are supported.

Children from Year 2 to 6 attended a pupil voice session looking at the History offer. Children enjoyed sharing their history books with Governors and were able to confidently articulate their learning over time. Next time Governors look forward to hearing about our newly developed Religious Education offer.

Safeguarding, Health and Safety Committee Update

The Health and Safety Governors carried out their half termly meeting on the 3rd October. They spent time looking at the safeguarding curriculum offer and ensured the Government guidelines around Relationships and Sex Education were now in place. Governors carried out a random ‘spot check’ of staff to ensure that the staff were confident in policy and procedure around the many aspects of safeguarding within a school.

TikTok

Ofcom recently reported that British children spend 127 minutes a day on TikTok each day. With this in mind, please be aware of the TikTok Parental Control settings. These settings can restrict who can contact and comment on your child’s posts and profile. It also features a Digital Wellbeing feature to restrict inappropriate content (such as viral trends that may negatively impact your child) and help children manage how long they spend on the app.

Stranger Danger

Dear Parents/Carers,

We have had a report that has prompted us to remind our children about the importance of stranger danger awareness when not on our site.

If your child walks home alone, please can you remind them of the importance of going straight home and not talking to unfamiliar adults or youths.

Kind regards,

Miss Cook

Lost property

Dear Parents/Carers,

Despite many reminders, some of our children are struggling to take responsibility for their own belongings. This image below shows what was left on our Astro only after one day.

As you know, it is near impossible for us to get belongings returned to their owners if they do not have a name in them.

Please can you support us by talking to your children about being responsible for their things and placing their name in all items.

Many thanks

Newdale Team

School lunches on trips

Over the past year, we have had lots of school packed lunches made as parents have requested one via Parent Pay but then have provided their own on the day of the trip. This has meant that we have had school packed lunches which have not been needed but have been made up by our kitchen. To avoid food waste, please only select on Parent Pay if you would like a packed lunch for your child if you are not going to be providing one for them on the day.

Thank you

Newdale Team
