School Dinner pricing from Summer term

From next term all school dinners will be charged at £2.70. We know this is an increase, but we are still confident that our school lunches offer great value and provide a nutritious lunch for all children.  The new menu will be distributed and added to the website as soon as school receive it.

Finance and Personnel Committee Update

The Finance and Personnel Governors met this week and without doubt the highlight was again talking to children! We invited a group of children with additional needs from across the school to talk to us about their learning and the support they receive. It was reassuring for Governors to hear how enthusiastic they are about school.

Schools across the country are under immense pressure to remain financially stable. Governors scrutinised the Newdale budgets and discussed ideas moving forward. Measures that will be taken will ensure we are financially stable and yet, will not affect the quality of education for our children.

The raffle will close on Tuesday 19th March and will be drawn on the afternoon of Wednesday 20th March. Winners will be contacted directly. All money raised will go into school fund to help subsidise school trips/events. Good luck everyone!

V-Tech watches

Please can we remind parents of the below, this is also relevant for dress up/non uniform days. Children must not be able to access a device during school hours that can take photos/recordings due to our safeguarding policy and permissions for photos/recordings for some children we must follow.

The watch itself has a camera on it which means it can record at any given time. The welfare of our children is paramount and therefore, due to the safeguarding risk, these watches will be banned in school. If a child comes into school wearing a VTech watch, it will be taken off them and returned at the end of the day.

Big Walk & Wheel

Newdale will be taking part in the Big Walk & Wheel, the UK’s biggest inter-school walking, wheeling, scooting and cycling to school competition between Monday 11th March – Friday 22nd March.

As part of the competition we will be collating each day the total of children who have travelled to school either walking, wheeling, scooting and cycling

Where possible, please encourage children to travel to school either by, walk, wheel, scoot or cycle between the above dates. The higher our scores the better, schools will be entered into a daily prize draw for rewards including equipment and accessories if over 15% of pupils walk, use a wheelchair, scoot or cycle on that day of the challenge.

Good luck everyone!

Health & Safety governors update

The Health & Safety Governors met last week and focussed on many important agenda items including the quality of our wraparound care offer, site security and staff training. It was lovely to talk to children who often attend Breakfast club and Afterschool club. They enjoy attending these clubs and could talk confidently about what they get to eat and the range of activities on offer.

Governors were reassured that the site is continually monitored for safety. Governors enjoyed reading comments from parents following the recent site security survey.

Very often, during this committee Governors spot check staff to check levels of understanding linked to safeguarding. They questioned a teaching assistant this time and were impressed with the confidence of the staff member when it came to answering a range of questions.
