Safeguarding, Health & Safety Committee Update

The Safeguarding/Health & Safety Governors met on the 22nd May in school. They really enjoyed talking to a group of older pupils about school dinners/packed lunches and were impressed with their understanding about what a healthy diet looks like.

Governors regularly carry out a ‘spot check’ linked to staff understanding of safeguarding policy and procedure. During this meeting they interviewed a Year 5 Teaching Assistant. Governors were satisfied with the in depth answers the staff member gave to their questions.

Governors had a focus on online safety and carried out a UKCIS online safety audit. Miss Hill is in charge of online safety in our school and is clearly doing a great job! Governors look forward to observing a whole school ‘invacuation drill’ this half term.

PE and Healthy Lifestyles Week

After the holidays, our PE days will remain the same – Wednesdays and Thursdays.

In the first week back, it will be Healthy Lifestyles Week.  They can come to school in kit all week. The children will come home with a slip in their reading diaries on the first day back to record their activity at home. Please upload pictures as Miss Jones has explained to be in with a chance of winning some great prizes.

On Wednesday 5th June, we will be having our Wheelie Day. The children can bring their scooter or bike with them as we will be going outside to ride these together. They must have a helmet or will not be able to ride. Please speak to one of the Year 1 team if your child does not have a bike or scooter so that we can sort one out for them. Please take your children’s scooters or bikes round to the bike shed on the main playground as we will not be able to store them in the Year 1 Outdoor Area.

Our Visit to the Post Box!

First of all, a huge thank you to everyone who sent a stamp into school this week, it is much appreciated by the children and the staff!

This morning, the children took great pride in writing a postcard about their visit to Dudley Zoo and Castle. This afternoon, we went on a ‘post box adventure’ to post the children’s postcards. The children had a fantastic time and were very excited to post their very own postcard!

Keep those beady eyes out for the postcards arriving at your house.
