Governors feedback linked to the Curriculum meeting

Governors were delighted to talk to enthusiastic Geographers from Reception to Year 6. Children were very knowledgeable about topics such as volcanoes, earthquakes, Mount Everest, capital cities and details around maps.

Governors could see clearly that the children in our nursery provision have a high-quality offer with exciting resources and stimulating environments.

Governors want to celebrate the swimming offer with you – please see below the report created by Miss Jones our PE lead.

A Busy Week in Year 1!

It has been another busy week in Year 1 this week!

We have been learning about The Great Fire of London in History this week. We’ve imagined we are bakers on Pudding Lane, civilians in London in 1666 trying to stop the fire and Samuel Pepys writing his diary.

Our bird feeders had set, so we went and placed them on the trees around Base Camp to feed the birds during the cold weather.

In Forest School, we created our own sculptures using natural materials inspired by Andy Goldsworthy.

In Computing, we worked collaboratively and practised programming commands to move a BeeBot around a map.

In Science, we sorted different items into groups based on the material that they were. We also used a range of adjectives to describe the properties of each material.

In Maths, we have been learning to count in our 2’s and our 10’s. Please ask your child to keep chanting these around the house, practice makes perfect! In Literacy, we have been reading Paddington and using exciting vocabulary to retell the story of him at the palace. Here is another Paddington story you might like to listen to. 🐻 Paddington at the Circus | Paddington Bear Kids Book Read Aloud (youtube.com)

Our Wonderful Winter Walk!

This morning, Year 1 went on a wonderful, wintery Nature Walk looking for signs of winter and spotting different wildlife and habitats.

We observed lots of different birds, so when we returned to school, we worked as a team to create lots of bird feeders to hang around Newdale’s outdoor areas.

Year 1 -Miss Hill’s Class

The children worked hard learning the songs and actions for their nativity this year. We are so proud of them! Please see some of the photos that were taken yesterday.

We also had a great time this morning having a snowball fight.

We hope you have a wonderful break, ready to return in 2024.

Thank you for your continued support.
