Year 1 Sculptures

This half term we have been learning about the artist Andy Goldsworthy. He is an outdoor artist who likes making sculptures using natural materials. A lot of his artwork is made up of spirals and circles. Today we made our own snail using clay which was inspired by his work.

Safeguarding, Health & Safety Governors Involvement

The Health and Safeguarding governors met last week and spent a lot of time looking at the important topic of E safety. They received an update from our E safety lead which included hearing about our filtering and monitoring systems, our E Safety risk assessment and AI usage. They then went onto to interview a group of Year 6 pupils. They were impressed with the knowledge these children had in how to stay safe online.

The Governors also looked at our first aid procedures and checked our staff Single Central Record (SCR). They concluded the meeting by feeding back from their previous parent voice session linked to safeguarding. They plan to repeat this session in order to gain more feedback.

Miss Lowe’s Class – Newdale Cup winners

Last Friday our class won the ‘Newdale Cup’ so we can have a treat this week.

On Friday 23rd January Miss Lowe’s class can bring in their slippers/sliders/crocs if they have to change into to wear in class. (this is optional please don’t go and buy new for tomorrow!)

The most important thing tomorrow is that the children can bring one toy/game/doll/card game/action figure (no electrical devices please) and we will have an afternoon to share and play with our favourite toys!

Support Newdale Primary on Easy fundraising

Newdale has been part of Easy fundraising since September and has already raised an amazing £99.11—all through everyday online shopping. This is a fantastic start, but with more families involved, we can boost this total even further.

Did you know that every time you shop online—whether it’s your weekly groceries or your next holiday—you could be generating free donations for Newdale Primary School & Nursery? Over 8,000 retailers are ready to give back, including eBay, Argos, John Lewis & Partners, ASOS, Booking.com and M&S. It doesn’t cost you anything extra, and every penny makes a difference.

Reception to Year 6 Stay and Share – Wednesday 11th February 2026

We would like to invite you to our Stay and Share session on Wednesday 11th February at 2:45pm.

Please enter your child’s classroom through their usual drop-off/pick-up route:

Reception, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 5 – enter via the playground classroom doors

Year 1 and Mrs Everall’s class – enter via the decking area

Mr Stubbs’ class – enter via the stairs by the Visitor Car Park

Playground gates will open at 2:45pm.

Due to limited space, we can only accommodate one parent/carer per child. Please confirm your attendance through ParentPay, so staff know how many parents to expect.

For this event, the children will remain in their classrooms. If you have more than one child in school, you will be able to move between classrooms and spend time with each of them individually.

We look forward to seeing you, and the children are excited to share their learning with you!

Year 1 Numbots

Today we have had lots of fun learning how to use Numbots.  NumBots is all about every child achieving the “triple win” of understanding, recall and fluency in mental addition and subtraction, so that they move from counting to calculating. NumBots adopts the best teaching practises to take children from counting on their fingers, to adding and subtracting two digit numbers. NumBots is available to play via our website or mobile app, so your child will be able to learn maths at home or on-the-go, whenever suits your family. Your Child’s log in details have been sent home on a letter and they are also treasury tagged onto their reading diaries too. We hope you enjoy using this website to develop your child’s confidence in Maths.

You can access Numbots here: https://play.numbots.com/#/account/school-login/54290
