Finance and Personnel Governors Involvement

On the 2nd April 2025 the Finance & Personnel Governors enjoyed talking to representatives from the School Parliament. They were impressed with what the children had been up to and future plans.

They discussed the financial position of the school and imminent significant expenditure e.g. a new surface on the bottom playground.

Governors have a strategic role in ensuring staff well being is properly considered. They spent time analysing the recent staff wellbeing audit and were heartened to read such positive comments e.g. 100% of staff at Newdale feel they work in a safe environment. The Governors are keen to hear what ideas staff have to ensure ‘work life balance’ is kept at a good level and plan to explore this more with staff next time the committee meets.

Toys in school

We have noticed that children are starting to bring toys into school and have been hiding them in their book bag. We politely ask that the children leave toys at home as we would hate for them to get lost or broken. Many thanks the Year 1 Team

Safeguarding, Health & Safety Governor Involvement

Health and Safety governors enjoyed talking to children from Reception – Year 5 about safeguarding through their Lifelong Learning curriculum. Governors were pleased with how confident the children could articulate their knowledge and understanding.

Governors viewed the independent local authority safeguarding audit and discussed findings. Governors celebrated that the report highlighted that ‘leadership of safeguarding is a key strength’.

Eatwell Family Cooking Recipes

Eatwell visited this week to deliver a family cooking session to 6 of our families. We would have loved for more to be involved however we were limited to only 6 children and their special adult for the session. They had a wonderful time working together to cook a delicious, healthy meal of quesadillas, salsa and fruit salad. Please find attached recipes to use at home if you’d like to try making one of the meals as a family. We’d love to receive photos, via our school email address, if you do have a go for yourselves at home! Happy cooking!

Key Stage Two children have two sessions coming up soon where they will learn more about a balanced diet and the importance of not eating too much sugar, which will be delivered by the Eatwell team.

Science Week Posters

A selection of Year 6 scientists had the pleasure of judging the class posters from British Science Week. We couldn’t believe the range of topics covered and how much effort all the children put in to show off the theme of Change and Adaptation. We really value the creativity shown by our children and will be sending the winning entries away to the national competition.
