Free School Meals

Dear Parents/Carers,

We already have many families who enjoy the benefits after applying for Free School Meals and we urge you to reconsider if you meet the criteria listed below.

By applying for Free School Meals, very often parents think it is all directly linked to school dinners- it isn’t! If you qualify for Free School Meals, it also means that you are entitled to significantly reduced prices for school trips, breakfast clubs and after school clubs. There are many other benefits that your child could directly receive to potentially support them at home and if needed, with their learning at school.

Families with children in years Reception up to Year 6 can apply for Free School Meals if they are entitled to certain benefits and have an annual income of £16,190 or below.

Please follow the below link as this will take you to the Telford & Wrekin website where you are able to access more information and download an application form which will be sent directly to the team. Or alternatively, speak to a member of staff in the school office for support in applying.

Safeguarding, Health & Safety Governors Involvement

The Health & Safety Governors met last week. They spent time considering our invacuation procedures and were pleased to hear that our site was going to be reviewed and audited by someone more specialist in this field. They look forward to their findings and observing a drill in action this June.

Governors went on to analyse behaviour across the school and as part of this carried out pupil voice with a set of boys and then a set of girls from year 6. Governors were heartened to hear that the children could speak very confidently about the BeSMART code and describe the varying types of bullying that could exist. (Thankfully not in Newdale!).

Governors looked carefully at the E Safety survey and were fascinated with the data and asked that it would be shared more widely with the parent community.

Year 1 Art

This Term we have been studying Kandinsky. We have each created our own version of his painting using watercolours and black pens.

PE and Forest School days for next half term.

Next half term (Summer 1, after the Easter break) there will be no Forest School. We will continue to offer plenty of opportunities for outdoor learning.

PE days will be…

Tuesday with the crossbar coaches.

Thursday with the class teacher.

Have a lovely Easter holiday and see you all on the 28th April.

The Year One Team

Time to Talk

Today we had lots of fun chatting to our friends in Year 4. We shared our Geography and Computing books together and talked about our fun lessons in school.

Year 1 Nature Walk

So much fun enjoying our Spring Nature Walk in the sunshine.

Curriculum Governors Involvement

The Curriculum Governor Committee met yesterday. They enjoyed listening to a group of girls talk about the sporting opportunities in our school and were pleased to hear that the offer is equal for both boys and girls.

Governors attended the Year 3 interhouse football competition on the astro and were delighted to see the inclusive nature of this event and the buzz of excitement from the children.

Governors had a focus on the role of the teaching assistant in our school and looked in particular at the key worker project that we run. They were impressed with the impact of this project on our children.

Governors reviewed the latest report from the school improvement partner which was linked to writing across the school.
