Dear Parents/carers

The school reviews it’s vision statement annually and in doing so takes into consideration the views of parents, children, staff and our governors. Our vision statement can be found here https://www.newdaleschool.org.uk/home/about/aims/ if you have any comments regarding it then please email the office before the end of term.

Additional copies of reports

End of year reports will be sent home with your child on 9th July.   If an additional copy is required by a parent who does not live at the child’s home address, you must contact the school office on 387720 to make a request by no later than Monday 5th July.

Please ensure that you keep your copy of the report safe, especially if your child is in Year 5.  Some secondary schools (such as Thomas Telford) require a copy to be sent with the application for Year 7 places and we will be unable to make further copies for you once they have been archived.

Headlice in school

Dear Parents/Carers,

We need to inform you that we have reported cases of Headlice in school, particularly in Year 3. If members of the team spot either live lice or eggs they will inform you so that treatment can begin immediately to avoid them spreading across to other children.

It is really important that you treat your children and continue to check for re-infestations. We know that it is only special treatment, tying hair back and time spent combing that will help.  For more information, please see the following guideline from the NHS website.

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/head-lice-and-nits/ There are pictures to help you to identify what nits look like and great advice to help you to treat your child.

We do have a small collection of nit combs that we are happy to let parents have free of charge and we are happy to supply you with the number for the school nursing team should you wish to talk to them directly. Please ask Mrs Powell or Mrs Huda about either of these offers.

Exciting news

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have some exciting news to share with you. Towards the end of term and over the Summer holiday, work will be completed at school to significantly improve our outside areas. Currently, the field is unusable for most of the year as it remains waterlogged, and we really want our children to be able to use it more frequently. An artificial surface (astroturf) is being laid on a section of the field to enable our children to use it all year around. We are also re-surfacing one side of the top playground and putting in another artificial surface in the fenced part of the top playground.  This will make our playground area second to none when looking at sporting fixtures and will also mean it can be used all year round by more children. In addition, we will be opening up a big chunk of our Forest School area for general playtime usage, so that children can spread out more freely.

With work of this kind, there will be a significant amount of disruption. No one will be allowed outside near the building works throughout the entire summer.  Unfortunately this does mean that we are unable to offer any holiday club provision. We have explored the possibility of our own staff running some indoor provision, but as we need a minimum of two staff on site at any time, we cannot make this work: staff have other commitments and are looking forward to their own break after a very difficult year. We are still exploring alternative indoor sports provision. I know it is difficult for parents who work all year round to manage child care and so we will do our best to signpost you to other options.

Kind regards, Miss Cook

Defibrillator at school

Dear Parents/Carers

Following the recent events involving Christian Erikson at the Euros we wanted to remind everyone that there is a defibrillator on the school site, situated in the office. It is available to be used by anyone in an emergency during school opening times and has been registered with the ambulance service to this effect.

Thank you

Say ‘No’ to bullying

At Newdale we take great pride in the behaviour of our pupils. Very often we get comments from visitors to the school, or from people out of school, saying how impressed they are with the behaviour and attitude of our pupils.
