Circus tricks!

Miss Newport’s class had lots of fun practising some circus skills today.  Our visitor from the circus showed us how to use scarves, beanbags and even peacock feathers to do some circus tricks.  We learnt that it must take a lot of practise to be a member of the circus!

E-Safety Top Tip – Monkey app

Have you heard of the app Monkey? Does your child use this app?

We would like to make you aware of this app because we highly recommend that children at Newdale do not use it.

The age rating for Monkey is children aged 13years+.  It contains some inappropriate material and there are concerns over the ability to chat to strangers via chat and video calls.  The NSPCC website have rated this app as ‘very poor’ for safety.

Remember it is very important to have regular conversations with your child to find out what apps and websites they are using.  You can also help your child to think about what information they share online and who can see it.

If you need more support or guidance with online safety please contact a staff member or send us an email newdale.primary@taw.org.uk

PE

We are excited to let you know that the nursery children are going to have outside PE sessions with sports coaches on Tuesday mornings.  The sports coaches are called Mr Stone and Mr Birch.  The nursery team will of course be accompanying the children and joining in!  Please ensure that your child is appropriately dressed for example trainers and jogging bottoms or leggings.  They do not need a PE kit and need to come dressed in their sporty gear to nursery that day.  We will post lots of pictures to let you know how much fun they are having.

Thanks for your support

8.9.21 Drop off/pick up changes

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are constantly reviewing our systems and have decided to alter the drop off and pick up arrangements slightly to hopefully improve things for everyone.

The queues of people outside of the main front gate, along the road are a concern for us and therefore we are going to allow people on site through the top gate and main gate more freely. The internal gates however will not open until the classrooms are about to open. This new system would at least allow people to wait for a short time on site, rather than on the busy road.  Nursery opens at 8.30am and school at 8.40am, so please do not arrive on site much earlier than this as it would then result in you waiting with other people.

It would help us if you encouraged/allowed older children to be independent and walk to class on their own please.

We ask you to be really careful around the school car parks at these busy times. We do have a number of blue badge holders who have permission to come onto site. Where possible, we have asked that they limit movement at key busy times from now on to help us keep everyone safe.

This new system will begin at pick up time today and as ever we will review and alter again if we deem it necessary.

Thank you for your continued support and patience.

End of term message

20.7.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you for all of the support and kind words we have received over the course of this year. It has been a very challenging year for everyone. I am so proud of the Newdale team for doing all they can for our children and community under very difficult circumstances.

If over the next 2 days your children have a positive covid result you need to email the school at newdale.primary@taw.org.uk  or ring this school number 07765147868. We need to know in school as it may mean that the Health Hub need to inform direct contacts.

After the 2 day period has lapsed, you need to still report all positive cases, but not to school.

We really do hope this lovely spell of weather continues and allows everyone to get out and about enjoying the summer holiday.

The single most important skill you can develop with your children over the holiday in preparation for returning to school in September is Reading. Whether they read to you, you read to them or they read to a toy or even the dog, reading is the key to all learning. Any time spent on this will really benefit your children and help your teachers next year.

The teams in Newdale have already been spending so much time preparing for next year and they are already fully aware as to the children they will be looking after. We have been busy planning super events for everyone to enjoy during the Autumn and know the children will settle in quickly to their new routines.

I will be updating everyone as to the procedures we will change and retain a week or so before we return. This will be following guidance from the Health professionals and the Local Authority.  Rest assured, the decision making will be measured and always have our children and families at the centre.

Stay safe everyone and have a wonderful summer.

Goodbye Year 1

What a pleasure it has been to teach my class not only this year but last year in Reception as well.

You have all grown so much and I am so proud of everything you have achieved.

You are all so ready for Year 2 and you are going to carry on being amazing  and shining bright.

We have had a fun packed last few weeks in Year 1.

Here are the photos from our Seaside Day.

Have a lovely summer and I will catch up with you all in September.

Lost property and left items

We have lots of items that have been left behind in nursery including coats, wellies and hoodies.  Please can you collect them, if you are able, from the nursery fence where I have hung them up. If your child is still in nursery in September we can always return them to their peg for safe keeping on Tuesday afternoon.

If I don’t get to see you again, have a wonderful summer.
