Dropping off children outside school

We are seeing an increasing number of parents who are dropping their children off on the double yellow and zig zag lines outside school. Please can you refrain from doing this as it is causing traffic delays and could cause an accident as other motorists have to drive around the parked cars. This is something that has been noted by the Police when they attend site and they have been taking note of number plates when in attendance.

Thank you for your co-operation in making the entrance to school as safe as possible for the children.

Bug Club Online

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our school has recently acquired a new online reading programme called Bug Club that we would like to share with you.

We use Bug Club in school and some of the reading books the children bring home are Bug Club along with some Oxford Owl texts.

With this new online resource all of the books are accessible online and each child has a personalised log in and website. Class teachers can set reading levels so the books are tailored to your children’s ability. There are also quizzes to check your child’s understanding of what they have read.

We hope you will enjoy using this scheme and encourage you to use it to meet your 3 or more reads a week :) .

I have attached the key information about the scheme below and we will be putting your child’s log in details in their reading diaries on Monday.

If you need any help or guidance please email the Year 1 account and we will happily assist.

Many thanks the Year 1 team.

Yr 6 Arthog Trip

Dear Parents/Carers

Unfortunately, the Yr 6 Arthog trip will no longer be able to go ahead.  With the restrictions in place, the centre will be unable to open on the dates we booked and no further dates are available.

The year 6 team hope that at some point in the Summer term, when restrictions have eased,  that we may be able to organise some Arthog outreach days for the children to enjoy.

Refunds will be made to your Parentpay accounts but this may take a few weeks for us to process.

We understand this is really disappointing for the children and only hope they get the ‘Arthog experience’ at some point during their secondary journey.

Kind regards,

Year 6 Team

Year 1 Phonics live workshop

Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for attending the live phonics workshop or watching the recording on Google Classrooms.
I hope it gave you more of an insight into how we teach phonics in school and information regarding the Year 1 phonics screening test.
As always, we are keen to support you further. If there is anything that you would like further support with or feedback on the support that you have already received, please get in touch via the Year 1 email address.
Many thanks,
Miss Broadhurst.

Monday 15th March is Rockstar Day for Year 2.   Children are able to attend in rockstar fancy dress. They will also be watching snippets from the film School of Rock. This film is a PG but the year 2 team have ensured that the edited version that the children watch will not contain any inappropriate language. If you would rather your child did not watch the film, please let your child’s teacher know.

Notice for Miss McCullagh’s class

To the Parents / Carers of children in Miss McCullagh’s class.

Following notification today that there is a positive case in this class, we need to inform you that your child needs to self isolate now for a period of 10 days.

We will give you more information as we seek advice from the health protection hub.

Learning for your child will now switch to remote learning as it was during the lockdown.

Many thanks the Year One Team.

Changes to the Year 6 classes

Due to staffing issues caused by the pandemic, we have needed to temporarily re-group the year 6 classes.

As you are aware, Mrs. Thomas remains at home and will continue to support children through online teaching, supported in class by Mrs. Lewis.

Miss Clay will support children face to face with the support of Miss Bethwaite.

Please know that any changes we have made are temporary and are to support your child in the best possible way.

Issues with the school SENDCO email

There seems to be an ongoing issue with the school’s SENDCO email.  If you wish to discuss any SEN matters and are having issues sending your emails, please call school to request a call back from Miss Plimmer or Mrs Powell.  Alternatively, you can use the  newdale.primary@taw.org.uk email address and we will be happy to forward your message on for you.

Message from Miss Cook 5.3.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

Just a quick message to thank you all for your support with our online learning.

I am very proud of the Newdale team for working flat out in generating such a comprehensive offer.

All teaching will resort to ‘face to face’ from Monday and as a result all online learning will cease.

We have had some lovely messages thanking the team for their efforts. These messages mean a great deal to them so thank you.

We are all looking forward to welcoming the children back. Reassure them that we will be giving them time to catch up with their friends and that they will easily slot back into their normal routines.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Miss Cook
