PE clarification

Dear Parents/Carers,

I understand from viewing social media that some parents are asking for clarification linked to the change in procedure with PE kit.

We really do understand that it is not ideal and we promise to revert back to normal as soon as it is safe to do so.

We place a high priority on PE in our curriculum and really do want our children outside in the fresh air as much as possible.

Some parents were worried their children would be cold. We are happy for children to wear outdoor PE kit each PE day if that helps. Clearly we will not be allowing your children to get soaking wet during PE and expecting them to sit in wet clothes for the rest of the day. Our PE coaches are fully aware of this.

We are not allowing PE kits to be borrowed from school, due to ongoing threats of the virus, so please support us in making sure your child/children are correctly dressed on the PE days.

If you have any further concerns please do call the office on 01952 387720 and the team will be happy to help.

Kind regards

PE Kit 10.09.2020

Dear Parent/Carer,

As you know we are constantly reviewing our systems in line with Government guidance and continue to assess how effectively they are working in our school.

We have decided that we will be asking children to attend school in their PE kits on the days they have PE. They will be expected to remain in these kits all day to avoid the need to get changed. Too much learning time was being spent getting classes of children changed whilst maintaining their bubbles.

It is important that children are wearing the correct PE kit as listed here:

  • Pupils – Indoor: White t-shirts and dark shorts. Clothing must not be baggy as it can get caught in the equipment. Hair should be tied up and jewellery removed. If ear-rings can’t be taken out, they are to be taped.
  • Pupils – Outdoor: Children should have a white T shirt, dark shorts/jogging bottoms, socks and suitable outdoor footwear (trainers). Outdoor PE continues throughout winter months unless there are extreme weather conditions. A dark coloured jumper/hoodie/coat is needed to be worn during the colder months.

PE Days are listed here as a reminder:

Monday               Year 2 (outdoor); and Year 5 (indoor)

Tuesday               Year 3 (indoor); Reception (outdoor); Year 4 (indoor); and Year 6 (outdoor)

Wednesday        Year 3 (outdoor); Den (outdoor)

Thursday             Year 4 (outdoor); Reception (indoor); Year 1 (outdoor); and Year 2 (indoor)

Friday                   Year 1 (indoor); Year 5 (outdoor); Y6 (outdoor/swimming)

Please note that Year 6 have swimming OR outdoor PE on a Friday afternoon. The class doing PE can come in their kit, the swimming group will be expected to come into school wearing school uniform and get changed at the pool.

It is also important that children have a coat with them, as we will still try to get children outside as much as possible.

We thank you for your support and patience during this tricky time.

Hand sanitiser

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are moving to a more streamlined system in school which will ensure that children spend as much time as possible in lesson time.

We are retaining thorough hand washing at key times, such as following a toilet visit or before lunch. Where the children have been only in contact with their ‘bubble’ we will be reverting to the hand sanitiser option.

If for some reason you want your child to use ‘home provided’ hand sanitiser, please let your child’s class teacher know as soon as you can.

Many thanks for your support.

ASC Collection Points

Due to parents unable to enter the school building at present and the school office being unmanned after 4.30pm, there has been a change to collection points.

Before 4.30pm- Please wait on the path outside the main school office and ring 01952 387720 to let the office staff know you are outside waiting to collect. Office staff will call for your child and they will meet you outside on the path.

After 4.30pm- Please collect from the back of the school hall doors. A member of the ASC team will meet you and call for your child.

*Please note. Children are in different areas of the school while in ASC. When you arrive your child may take a few minutes to get to you.

Start and end of day update

Dear Parents and Carers,

Firstly, please can we thank you for your support in following the system around the school this morning. Children came in happy and smiling, ready for another day of learning. There were lots of children coming into school independently, especially in Key Stage 2 which is a real help to us when considering the number of people we have on site at any one time. The staff on duty wish to thank you for your co-operation.  We are hopeful that this system will not be in place forever, but for now we feel it is the best system in order to keep everyone as safe as possible.

The main school gates will not be open to parents and pupils before 8.30am in the morning and 3.00pm in the afternoon.  Please remember, you have from 8.40am until 9.00am to get your children into school, which may help you when considering your morning arrangements.

You may be aware that some of the residents who live adjacent to our school raised some concerns regarding parking on their property this morning. Where possible, please can you walk to school. We are aware that space is limited for cars and ask that you are considerate in where you park if you are arriving at school in a vehicle. Please do not park in the spaces which are marked with numbers, as these numbers indicate the parking spaces that belong to the property. Likewise, please can we ask that you are considerate to other road and pavement users when parking.

You may also wish to consider parking a little bit further away from school and walking up from there.

The police and Community Support Officers will have a much higher presence at our key entry and exit times in order to support congestion outside of school.

As I have mentioned before, our systems are continually under review. Rest assured, we are trying our best to ensure your children’s safety is our main priority.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Important information for parents

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are delighted to welcome all children back to school. They have settled into class really well and are already enjoying lesson times.

It was lovely to speak to so many parents today.

The staggered start proved tricky for many parents, so as a result we have reviewed our entry and exit system and made the  following changes with immediate effect.

We will be operating a strict one way system for ‘pick up’ and ‘drop off’ times around the outside of school. This will be clearly marked and staffed. As you follow the one way system, please drop off children in the order as you walk around.

Where possible, please can only one parent/carer accompany children onto site. We hope that many children in Years 4, 5 and 6 will walk onto site independently.

Nursery will open at the normal time of 8.30 am and all other classes will be open from 8.40 am.  Classroom doors will open at 8.40 am and close at 9 am at which point the register will be taken.

We are trying to reduce the volume of parents on site at any one time – please do not arrive at school too early as this puts strain on our capacity.  If you are waiting at any point, please use the space available on the playground and socially distance.

We will continue to review our entry / exit systems on a daily basis.

Thank you for all of your support and understanding during these testing times.
