Year 1 trip to Ironbridge

We had a fantastic time in Ironbridge last Friday. The children were a credit to our school and enjoyed all of the activities we did.

Reception Nature Walk 🌳

Today we went exploring our local area to conduct some fieldwork. We used our observational skills to look for the different signs of nature in our local area. Whilst on our walk we saw Hawthorne trees, holly, thistles, brambles, ferns, buttercups, daisies and foxgloves. We even spotted some butterflies and ducks too. We saw the local landmark of the Wrekin in the distance. The children were very well behaved following the Be Smart code and enjoyed looking at the variety of nature around us.

Career Day in Reception Part 2

Another amazing day in Reception.

This morning was so exciting as we had a special visitor in school called Sarah who works at Hoo Zoo. Sarah told us all about her job at Hoo Zoo and some of the things she has to do while she is there. She also brought in a tortoise called Howard and a snake called Mr Sunshine for us to look at. Sarah told us some information about these two, very different, animals and then let us stroke them if we wanted to.
We were allowed to touch Howard and Mr Sunshine…

Reception star of the week!

Mrs Sturrock and Mrs Evans’ Star of the Week this week is Joshua for excellent mental maths work and impressing all the adults in class with his excellent knowledge of number facts. Well done Joshua! 😊

Ice Pops on sale- Tuesday 14th June

To help raise funds for our Healthy Lifestyle week, School Parliament members suggested selling ice pops after school. This will take place on Tuesday 14th June from 3.10- 3.30pm, each ice pop will be sold for 20p (please bring correct change). All proceeds go to the Healthy Lifestyle funds.

Careers Day in Reception

This week has been Careers Week at Newdale. We have learnt about different jobs and discussed what we might like to do when we grow up.
This morning was so exciting as we had a special visitor in school called Sarah who works at Hoo Zoo.

We were all very brave and everybody in the class stroked both the snake and the tortoise. What a fantastic day we had! Well done everyone.

TikTok

TikTok 10.6.22

Dear Parents/Carers of children in Year 6,

It has been brought to our attention that very many of our Year 6 children have opened TikTok accounts. In order to open an account, children need to be 13 years of age and hence no one in primary school should have one. The reasons for this are that it is known that children below the age of 13 have not got the maturity to post appropriately and manage what has been posted.

Unfortunately, we have discovered that someone has opened an account and called it Newdale Primary School. The content of what has been posted demonstrates very clearly why the age limit is 13. Please can you regularly check your child’s phone and the accounts they have open.

We ask you to close TikTok and any other accounts they have that are above their age range please.  We suffer no end of issues as a result of mis use of online platforms, many of which end up coming into school.

Many thanks for your support in this ongoing tricky area.

Miss Broadhurst’s maternity news

10.6.22

Dear Parents/Carers of Year 1 children,

As it is evident to see, Miss Broadhurst will soon be departing Newdale to have her baby. She is hanging on as long as possible!

We are really pleased to have secured a teacher (Mrs Blignaut)  who has worked in our school many times, to cover her.

Miss Newport and Miss Broadhurst will work closely with Mrs Blignaut to ensure the transition is seamless.

We all wish Miss Broadhurst and her family the very best of luck.
