TikTok 10.6.22
Dear Parents/Carers of children in Year 6,
It has been brought to our attention that very many of our Year 6 children have opened TikTok accounts. In order to open an account, children need to be 13 years of age and hence no one in primary school should have one. The reasons for this are that it is known that children below the age of 13 have not got the maturity to post appropriately and manage what has been posted.
Unfortunately, we have discovered that someone has opened an account and called it Newdale Primary School. The content of what has been posted demonstrates very clearly why the age limit is 13. Please can you regularly check your child’s phone and the accounts they have open.
We ask you to close TikTok and any other accounts they have that are above their age range please. Â We suffer no end of issues as a result of mis use of online platforms, many of which end up coming into school.
Many thanks for your support in this ongoing tricky area.
