Year 1 Home Learning Tuesday 31st March 2020

Thank you for the continued support at home. We are enjoying seeing what you have been up to. You have been working your socks off!

Some suggestions for Tuesday’s Year 1 Literacy focus.

For phonics, check out Miss Hammond’s daily video to practise the flashcards together. Repetition is key! Also, continue to practise your weekly spellings. Can you put these spellings into a super sentence?

As we approach the Easter holidays, in school we normally start to learn about who celebrates Easter and why it is celebrated. Share this PowerPoint attached with your child. Can they write three facts they remember from the information? This could be handwritten or typed.

As a fun task, your child could either colour the stained glass window sheet attached. If you don’t have access to a printer your child could design their own stained glass window instead. Get creative as you like! Cut round them, colour them, collage them. We can’t wait to see the results.

Finally, just for fun a 2do is set on PurpleMash to design an Easter Egg.

Tuesday 31st March – Year 1 Maths Activity

Today, you have got a new challenge to complete! You are going to be exploring number bonds to 20 and having a go at writing the addition number sentences that match.

Google Classroom

Dear Parents/Carers,

I understand that some of you have been having issues connecting onto Classroom from home so I have created a document to run you through step by step which is attached below. I cannot stress enough how important it is that your child enters their username and password carefully using the correct punctuation and capital letters where necessary. I hope this helps. If not then please email through Purple Mash.

Thanks,

Non-Screen activities

Hi everyone,

Here are some really fun activities that you could try at home! They are suitable for all ages so you might like to work with siblings or grown-ups to have a go at them!  We would love to see some of the exciting projects you get up to! 😃

Daily Maths Activities

Dear Parents/Carers

Alongside the Purple Mash project that we have set this morning, we would like the children to be completing shorter daily activities which will revise key concepts from the Year 5 curriculum. These resources have been designed to allow children to work independently to watch a video, complete the activities and mark their own work.

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-5/

Step 1: Watch the video for the day’s lesson.

Step 2: Click “Get the Activity” for a downloadable PDF which will test your child’s understanding of the mathematical skill. This could be printed or just completed on paper. Please upload a photo to the homework blog or as an attachment in a Purple Mash email to your class teacher.

Step 3: Click “Get the Answers” in order to check your child’s understanding.

Please commence on “Week 1” and follow the scheme, completing one lesson per day.

If you wish to complete other Maths activities, we strongly recommend going back to Year 3 and Year 4 activities in order to revise all skills which are tested in Year 6.

We always appreciate your support at home and have been really impressed by how much effort has been put into home learning in these strange times.

Best wishes,

Year 5

Year 1 Guided Reading 📚

Last week, we set you a guided reading activity based on a story called ‘A Monster Surprise’, and we loved seeing your creative work and hearing that so many of you had enjoyed this story. We would like to share another story with you today. This one is called ‘The Making of Milton’. You can listen to the story being read at this link:

(also included on the PDF of activities below)

We have included here some questions to discuss and some fun activities that you may like to have a go at, at home. Some of these activities may take a little bit more time so please don’t feel like they all must be completed today – you may like to spread them out over the week. We can’t wait to see your creative projects this week! 😃
