Times Table Reminder

Good Morning,

The MTC is approaching quickly and we would love the children to feel as confident as possible when they sit their times tables test.

We have been working hard in class to boost retrieval but would really appreciate further support at home. Keep an eye in diaries over the next few days for your child’s most recent TTRS heatmap and their highest mock MTC score out of 25.

Should you wish to do more at home with your child, you could use the resources below.

Thanks for your support,

The Year 4 Team

Free School Meals

Dear Parents/Carers,

We already have many families who enjoy the benefits after applying for Free School Meals and we urge you to reconsider if you meet the criteria listed below.

By applying for Free School Meals, very often parents think it is all directly linked to school dinners- it isn’t! If you qualify for Free School Meals, it also means that you are entitled to significantly reduced prices for school trips, breakfast clubs and after school clubs. There are many other benefits that your child could directly receive to potentially support them at home and if needed, with their learning at school.

Families with children in years Reception up to Year 6 can apply for Free School Meals if they are entitled to certain benefits and have an annual income of £16,190 or below.

Please follow the below link as this will take you to the Telford & Wrekin website where you are able to access more information and download an application form which will be sent directly to the team. Or alternatively, speak to a member of staff in the school office for support in applying.

Maternity News!

Mr Jackson and Miss McCullagh are pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in September. Mr Jackson will continue teaching at Newdale until he is entitled to his paternity leave.

We are delighted to announce that Mrs Arthurs will be returning to Newdale having taken a break from teaching for a year. She will be teaching Miss McCullagh’s class from this mid-June in view of potentially being their Year 6 teacher from September. Miss McCullagh will continue to work alongside Mrs Arthurs for the remainder of this year to ensure a very smooth transition.

We have quite a number of staff on or going on maternity leave this next year, but as always, we put the children at the centre of our decision making.

We all wish Mr Jackson and Miss McCullagh and their family the very best of luck.

Safeguarding, Health & Safety Governors Involvement

The Health & Safety Governors met last week. They spent time considering our invacuation procedures and were pleased to hear that our site was going to be reviewed and audited by someone more specialist in this field. They look forward to their findings and observing a drill in action this June.

Governors went on to analyse behaviour across the school and as part of this carried out pupil voice with a set of boys and then a set of girls from year 6. Governors were heartened to hear that the children could speak very confidently about the BeSMART code and describe the varying types of bullying that could exist. (Thankfully not in Newdale!).

Governors looked carefully at the E Safety survey and were fascinated with the data and asked that it would be shared more widely with the parent community.

Hi,

Y2 residential

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are writing to inform you about an update regarding the trip offer in Year 2. After careful consideration, we have decided that the children in Year 2 are a little young to stay away from home overnight at this stage. As such, the residential will now take place when the children are in Year 4, allowing them to fully enjoy and benefit from the experience at an age where they are more ready for this exciting milestone (this will be the same for all year groups moving forwards).

In place of the residential, we are thrilled to share that we have planned a special Pirate Day for the children on Thursday 5th June! On this day, the students will embark on a fun-filled adventure, which includes walking through our local area, reading maps, and searching for clues to uncover hidden treasures. It promises to be an engaging and educational experience that captures their imaginations while fostering teamwork and problem-solving skills. The children will also be invited to stay for tea that day at school. Please look out for more details soon.

We hope this alternative will be an exciting and enjoyable event for the children, and we look forward to seeing them fully embrace their inner pirates! Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
