Achievement Assembly

Friday 8th November 2024

It has been lovely to welcome the children back to school after the half term break. On Monday, Year 5 visited Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery. Their teachers were very impressed by their behaviour and how proudly they represented our school while taking part in their workshops. This week also saw our first House Celebration, where the pupils from Severn House took part in several exciting games and activities including parachute games, musical statues and a football challenge. The children had a brilliant time and we look forward to seeing which House wins next!

Y1-6 Parents’ Evenings w/c Monday 2nd December 2024

Y1-6 Parents’ Evenings Week Beginning Monday 2nd December 2024

To give parents and carers plenty of notice to book their child’s appointment, we will be sending out letters next week. Your child will be given a letter by their class teacher. Please fill out and return promptly. Please note that we are no longer using the online system and have reverted back to having paper letters. Our School Cloud subscription was over £1000 a year for a service we only used twice a year. Instead, we will use this money to continue to subsidise for trips and visits.

Reception – staff news

Dear Parents/Carers of Reception children,

Miss Hodgetts is very pleased to announce that she is expecting her first bundle of joy.

We all hope that Miss Hodgetts will be able to continue supporting her class until close to February half term, at which point she will begin her maternity leave.

We are really lucky to have two teaching assistants in each of our Reception classes. We will be looking very carefully at the cohort and staffing we have, in order to ensure the continued high quality provision over the rest of the year.

We all wish Miss Hodgetts and her family the very best of luck.

Kind regards,

Miss Cook

Reception Parents’ Evenings Next Week – Information

Reception Parents’ evenings are being held after school next week on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

You should have now received your time slot slip in your child’s reading diary to confirm your appointment.

On the day of your appointment, please enter and exit through the gates situated near the Reception classrooms/Reception outdoor area and then enter the building via the blue door to the left of Miss Hailey’s classroom (where the lost property box is located.)

If you arrive to your appointment a few minutes early, your child’s books will be located outside their classroom door along the corridor to give you the opportunity to have a look through at their wonderful work prior to your appointment.

We look forward to meeting with you next week.

Yr5 Shrewsbury Trip

Our Year 5 pupils thoroughly impressed today’s workshop leaders with their excellent behaviour and attitude to learning. It truly was a wonderful start to our new history topic and a celebratory end our monoprint art unit.

Below you can see the replica Viking burial we investigated as historians. We looked at their beautiful jewellery, ornate necklaces, shell game pieces and drinking horns. It made us wonder whether the Vikings really were the vicious, deadly invaders most people remember them as. Children handled Viking artefacts with care and learnt how to write in Viking runes.

We were so proud of the sketches, monoprints and the Viking clay pots our year 5’s produced.

Y6 Height & Weight Checks

Please see attached information regarding Height & Weight checks for Year 6 that are booked in school for Wednesday 20th November.

Halloween Disco

Year 2 had a wonderful time at their Halloween disco. Here is a spooky picture of them beforehand.

We hope all the children have a restful half term- we can’t wait to see them when they are back for a jampacked, fun-filled Autumn 2!

Please note that PE days will stay the same in Autumn 2. There will be no outdoor learning in Autumn 2 so children will not need to bring a spare set of clothes.

Thanks for your continued support.
