School dinner – last day of term

On the last day of term, Monday 24th July, a hot dinner of Pizza will be available for school lunch.

Due to only having one school day that week, the kitchen are unable to order perishable goods that would normally be used to make school sandwiches. If your child would like sandwiches that day, these will need bringing from home.

School Books

Dear Parents / Carers,

It is nearly the end of the year and we ask that you could please have a root around on bookshelves / under beds (!) etc. to see if any school books have hidden themselves away? We are especially keen to recover some lost Read, Write, Inc books, but also any books with ‘SLS’ yellow stickers on that we will need to return to the library service.

Many thanks,

Mrs J Thomas

Summer Fayre

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you for attending our Summer Fayre last week.

We made £2149.60, which is of course amazing.

As I hope you know, we subsidise the vast majority of our school trips and visits for all parents and the money we raised will go towards this.

Your support is invaluable in enabling us to get your children out and about as often as possible. This trip/visitor offer enriches the learning experiences for all children.

Thank you again.

Newdale Team

Family Lunch – 19th July

Family lunch will take place on Wednesday 19th July.

To try and eliminate the queues on the day, we are going to trial parents bringing their own lunch (sandwiches) no takeaways e.g McDondald’s.

Pupils will order their school meal on the day as normal. The hot meal for that day will be beef burger.

Further information regarding arrival times will be confirmed closer to the date.

Nursery Homework at Newdale

At Newdale Nursery, you will have the opportunity to take part in our weekly book change.

All children will receive a reading journal in their own pack and on a Monday (or the first day they attend in the week), your child will have the opportunity to take home or exchange a ‘Share a Story’ book. We would not expect your child to read these books independently, but rather take the time to share with you. This could be as a bedtime story or at another relaxing point in the day, where the love of reading can be nurtured and every opportunity to develop your child’s vocabulary can be taken.

We send home ideas within the reading journal of questions you could ask whilst reading the book to encourage your child’s understanding. For example, ‘Can you tell me what is happening here?’, ‘How is this character feeling?’ and ‘How do you know?’

If you would like any further support with this, then please do not hesitate to ask us.

From time to time, we may also set other exciting home challenges. You will find these posted directly to you on our ‘Evidence Me’ learning platform app, where you will be able to respond and upload photos if you choose.

Thank you for your ongoing support at home.

Nursery Staffing – September 2023

4.7.23

Dear Parent/Carers,

We would like to update you with regards to staffing in the Nursery from September.

We must inform you that Mrs Curnow will be sadly leaving Newdale at the end of this academic year.

Mrs Curnow has been a very valued member of our team for 9+  years and we know she will be missed by both the children, staff and families.

I know you will join us in wishing Mrs Curnow every success in her future.

We have been busy looking at our staffing structure and can assure you that the high-quality provision will continue in Mrs Curnow’s absence.

We will be welcoming Mrs Pablos into the team as the new Nursery teacher from September. Many of you will already know that Mrs Pablos is a current experienced teacher at Newdale and has already been busy working in Nursery to ensure a seamless transition.

We will also have the following staff changes:

Miss Mellisa Hodgetts will be moving from our Ladybugs room to work in the Reception classes from September.

We will welcome Mrs Kay Hawley who currently works in Year 2, to work in Ladybugs in her place.

Miss Kerrie Risk will move from Mighty Oaks to support a key group in Ladybugs.

We will also be welcoming Miss Sofia Ahmed to the Mighty Oaks team as new keyworker in September.

All members of staff are excited about their new roles.

Governors involvement within school

Governors from the Finance & Personnel met yesterday and were thankful to a Grandma of a child in reception who came to talk through the induction process. She reflected positively in that the induction process is personal to each child. She felt the information she gained before her granddaughter started school was clear and concise.

A cross section of children came to talk to governors about their understanding of British values and the BeSMART code. Children could confidently articulate their understanding and how the values relate to their life, school and wider community.

Governors met with the After School Club lead and was reassured that the range of activities and snacks on offer is of high quality. Governors were happy that the After School Club with continue to facilitate trips and events in and outside of school. They approved more investment into new resources for the club.
