Free PE workouts from home

Join me every day next week for a home workout 😀
Starting Monday 23rd March I’m going to be hosting a free workout aimed at kids LIVE on my YouTube channel.

With the schools closed and with us all spending more time at home, it’s more important than ever that we keep moving and stay healthy and positive.

Exercise is an amazing tool to help us feel happier, more energised, and more optimistic.

The workouts will be fun and suitable for all ages and even adults can get involved.

You don’t need any equipment, just tune in to my YouTube channel at 9am each morning for a 30-minute, fun workout.

One more thing! I really need your help to spread this message. So please please share this with everyone that might like to get involved, and together we can help keep the nation moving 🙏🏻

You can subscribe to my YouTube channel at the button below.

Lots of love, Joe x

School closure update

School closure update

Dear Parents and Carers,

The Government document ‘Coronavirus (COVID-19): maintaining educational provision‘ was released overnight. The document gives some clarity but raises many operational questions for schools, parents and employers.

It must be noted firstly that ‘If it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be’. Clearly the whole point of closing schools, is to limit social contact and prevent the rapid spread of the disease, so we ask you all to think carefully about whether it is essential to send your children in. ‘Schools to remain open only for those children who absolutely need to attend’.

If your work is critical to the COVID-19 response, or you work in one of the critical sectors and you cannot keep your child safe at home, then your children will be prioritised for school. We will be open from 8.40 a.m. until 3.10 p.m. whilst staff levels allow.

Teachers are already planning activities for children that have to attend school and more information will be sent to those parents who qualify later on today. You should have already been updated by your class teacher as to ‘Home Learning’ options – please see class pages on the website.

The guidance on Key Workers is that “if your work is critical to the COVID-19 response, or you work in one of the critical sectors listed below, and you cannot keep your child safe at home then your children will be prioritised for education provision:

Health and Social Care

Education and Childcare

Key Public Services

Local and National Government

Food and other necessary goods

Public Safety and national security

Transport

Utilities, communication and financial services

For full details please follow this link Government Link

Clearly, some of these categories are wide-reaching. It is for Headteachers to use their best judgement to determine which parents are eligible when we are approached. Please be patient and understand that we are doing our best and that our decision is final. Remember we are not making the rules we are simply trying our best to follow them.

1. We will assess all applications that we have had so far and determine whether they meet the essential criteria – someone from the office will contact you with the outcome today.
2. We will review new applications inview of the Government clarification which was published late last night. These need to be submitted by noon today in order for us to process them. Please use this form Critical Workers Form
3. It seems likely that next week will be a review stage where parents are asked for additional confirmation from employers. This may result in the offer of places being confirmed or places being withdrawn.
4. The guidance has so many elements that require additional clarification that I anticipate a process of review of decisions taking place throughout at least next week.

Please be assured that we will work over the coming week to make fair and consistent decisions that match the emerging national guidance and principles.  As ever, we are working tirelessly to ensure that children are at the heart of all of our decision making and we thankyou for your support and understanding so far.

Your sincerely

More information for key workers

Dear Parents / Carers,

We are still awaiting the list of who qualifies as a key worker. Thank you to all of those families who have returned their forms already.

We are now required to ask you what your partners job is, as we are being led to believe that in order to qualify for a school place, BOTH parents need to be in Key Worker professions. Please note that we may require evidence of the role you play and how that fits the description of a Key Worker.

Please could you return this information to school as soon as possible, if you have not already done so, to help us to continue to plan.

Thank you for your support

Important Coronavirus update – school closure to most pupils

Dear Parents/Carers,

Re: Coronavirus update – school closure to most pupils

As you will already know,  we have now been instructed to close the school to almost all children after this Friday, until further notice.

As advised by the government, we will do all we can to stay open for the children of key workers (e.g. NHS staff, police, others in frontline services) and children with certain needs.

We are waiting for the government to publish more information on what this means and exactly who this applies to. We will let you know shortly, as to how to let us know, if you believe your child falls into one of these categories.

All other children will need to stay at home, so we ask that you do not send your child into school from Monday onwards unless you have received notification from us.

Please note that this is a national closure – so while it is a challenging situation, we are not alone. We’ll re-open fully as soon as we can and will let you know when this is.

Home Learning

Your child’s learning is of course important to us, so we’ll continue to help your child to learn.

Teachers have been and continue to be very busy organising ‘Home Learning’ for your children.

Today there will be a suggested timetable sent out for you to use, clearly this is only for you to use if you would like to.

Your child’s teacher will inform you as to how communication will be managed. In the majority of cases this will be digital, but we know there will be exceptions and that will be arranged separately.

If your child usually receives free school meals we will also be in touch with more information about how we will continue to provide this, with support from a scheme that the government has just announced.

This is as much as we know right now and we appreciate your continued patience with as we deal with this ever-changing situation. We understand that this latest news will have an impact on you and your family and it’s far from ideal, but we’ll continue to keep in touch with any updates as the situation develops.

As you can imagine the office staff are under enormous pressure trying to answer as many questions as they can.

We will undoubtedly get a lot more information from the Local Authority today and in the meantime are very busy planning how our partial opening and home learning offer will operate.

We ask that you trust that we are doing our best under very difficult circumstances and that as ever, we have children at the centre of all of our decision making.

And remember: if you or your child feels ill and you want to know what to do next, please use NHS 111 online.

Thank you again for your continued support, and we will be in touch with more information when we can.
