Use of social media

Dear Parents/Carers,

We really do value the support we have from parents. It is absolutely key that we have open and honest communication and trust between home and school.

Thankfully, the vast majority of our parents use our communication systems brilliantly.

As a reminder, we have a number of ways you can be in touch:

  • year group email addresses to contact the teachers directly
  • home school communication books which are looked at every single day by school staff
  • a high number of staff on duty at the beginning and end of each day
  • our school office open from 7.30am until 4:30pm each day
  • teachers/teaching assistants on the door at key times.

In addition to the above we communicate as much information as we can through our website and Facebook. Facebook is particularly useful when it comes to informing parents about eg timings for collection from school trips.

We have had a couple of isolated incidents recently where we feel parents have used social media to air concerns publicly without contacting us directly first. We hope that all parents feel comfortable in approaching us about anything.

We always listen and where possible will take action, always with the children at the centre of all decision making.  We feel very much like we are a team which includes children and parents on the same side.

As ever, thank you for your ongoing support.

Miss Cook

Message from Miss Cook – morning drop off

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you know, mornings are a busy place around school with parents, grandparents and young children on site. Please can we ask that you ensure your child does not play with balls or other playground equipment before they come into school. In addition, please ensure your child waits sensibly with you before the bell goes at 8:35.

In this way, we can ensure school is a safe place for everyone.

Thank you

Miss Cook

Governor update

Governors are responsible for overseeing the management side of a school: strategy and vision policy, budgeting, staffing and safeguarding. We enable the school to run as effectively as possible, working alongside senior leaders and supporting teachers to provide excellent education to all our children.

We act as a critical friend to the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team.

Yesterday, the Curriculum Committee met. Like all of our committees, this one meets every half term. We had a super pupil voice session where the children enthusiastically told us all about their learning in Science. We were also treated to some children showing off their musical Ukulele skills. We continue to be impressed with the Modern Foreign Languages (French) offer in our school after a very comprehensive update from Miss Hill.

We would be happy to welcome any parent to part of a meeting to share their views on the curriculum offer in our school. If you would be keen to attend part of our meeting, please let us know through the Newdale email account.

Kind regards,

Curriculum Committee Governors

Yr R – Reading at home

Please could we remind you to read regularly with your child and write in the diary if your child has read at home or if you are reading to your child. We are sure you are reading at home but our reading diaries are not being written in. Thanks so much, Reception Team.

Holiday provision

We have always been committed to supporting working parents and also supporting our pupil premium families.

We run a blended holiday provision approach where we use Crossbar as well as our own school staff during holiday clubs: we feel this works very well and allows us to have increased numbers. It also means we have familiar adults on site at all times and means we can offer a wide variety of activities.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to run the provision this coming half term, but we are planning very much to offer provision over the summer and moving forward into the next academic year.

For those of you who still require holiday provision, there are other options for half term in other schools that you can search up on the Crossbar website.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to fine tune our provision so that is runs well for children, staff and parents.

 Kind regards

Miss Cook
