Update 30.4.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you know, we are fully open today and we are delighted about that.

I carried out a full site inspection with the Health and Safety lead early this morning and she was happy with all of our procedures linked to the fire and Covid.

We will continue to allow children outside for periods of time, following checks being made of the air quality by our team. Ventilation is being carefully managed to reduce the risk of the virus.

It is known that the fire will continue to burn for a few more days. The fire department is working hard to reduce this time as much as possible.

If there are any useful updates, I will pass them onto you later. We all wish you a fabulous bank holiday weekend and hope that those that live in the vicinity of the fire can get away from it for a few days.

Regards,

Miss Cook

Child Vision Screening (ages 4 to 5 years)

In many schools children in Reception Year (aged 4-5 years) will have their vision checked through Child Vision Screening. However, Covid-19 has caused major interruptions in education and child health services. This has meant
that the vision screening services have been delayed, postponed or cancelled for some of the children who started Reception Year in 2019/2020.

Children often cope very well with some eye problems which need to be identified and treated early to avoid lifelong visual loss. For this reason, it is important that even children with apparently normal vision should be tested. The screening assessment ensures that your child has good vision in both eyes, and that their vision is developing
normally. It is performed at this age so that any reduced vision or difference in vision between each eye can be picked up before the visual system is fully developed and any treatment necessary can be started.

Life Learning Parent Voice Summer 2021

At Newdale, we are passionate about ensuring that our children are well equipped for the world outside of Newdale. In order to do so, we provide opportunities for children to learn life skills and knowledge in an age-appropriate way. To support us with our curriculum offer, we would value your views on these topics.

Each survey will be put into a prize draw and have the chance to win one of three £10 vouchers for Asda. Please return to your child’s class teacher by Friday 7th May 2021. Following the completion of these surveys, we will then create actions to make our school even better in ensuring all pupils are prepared for life in modern Britain.

Update 16.4.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you are all enjoying this wonderful spell of sunny weather we are having.

We look forward to opening up to all children on Monday 19th April.

Please presume our procedures remain unchanged. We will of course update you as soon as we alter our systems. We hope that our regulations will become less strict, as the vaccine continues to be rolled out. Some outdoor Crossbar after school clubs will resume and activities such as swimming and our seasonal nature walks. More information will follow early next week.

In the meantime please support us by remaining cautious with child illness. We would much rather that parents kept children off who were displaying symptoms, rather than risking having to put 30 children into self-isolation for 10 days. We are slowly winning the battle against the virus, however we cannot afford to be complacent.

As we come into the summer term please make sure your children have a water bottle in school please.

Regards,

Miss Cook
