Harvest Celebrations in Reception

In Reception, we have been learning about Harvest. We know that it is a special festival celebrated in Autumn as a thank you for the crops that have been grown this year. As part of our work we have discovered who celebrates Harvest and how. We read ‘The Little Red Hen’ book all about a hard-working hen who grows some wheat and turns it into bread. We then made our own delicious bread. Yum! We learnt some Autumn songs and have enjoyed learning about the Autumn season, looking at typical signs such as the leaves changing colour and falling from the trees. Using both Harvest and Autumn as inspiration, we have completed amazing crafts such as our Red Hen handprints and leaf crowns.

We hope you enjoy our video, where we are so proud to show you all the amazing things we have been up to…

Thank you for the donations to our Harvest Festival back in school.

Reception Class Banquet Monday 11th October

On Monday 11th October we will be holding a special Castle Banquet to celebrate the fantastic work the children have been doing on Castles. So far we have made the castle shields, place cards and decorations. The Party will be instead of Forest School.

Please can your child bring in a  change of clothes to wear to celebrate the Castle Banquet. The children will come to school in their normal clothes and will get changed after their lunch. It can either be a costume they already have at home ( eg A King, Knight, Princess, Queen etc) or some party clothes.

We will make sure we take lots of photos to share with you all.

Many Thanks. The Reception Team.

Thank You

Thank you to the parents and carers of children in Reception who practised getting changed independently as part of our ‘parents as partners’ task this week.
We noticed a big difference in many children this week and it did help greatly. If you could continue to practise regularly, this would be appreciated.

Please keep an eye out for a parent share on Evidence Me of an observation from forest school this week 😊

Thank you, The Reception Team.

Star of the Week 🌟

Well done Coby!
You have been working so hard to become our star this week.
You really deserve to be our star for all your hard work and how kind you always are. We are really proud ☺️.

Thursday 7th October Census Day

Can you help our school on Census Day – next Thursday 7th October?

We have to provide information to the Department for Education (DfE),  which dictates how much funding the school receives. As you know, the more funding we receive, the better provision we can provide for your children.

One of the key funding categories is how many children take up Universal Free School Meals (UFSM) on census day. All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free meal (hot dinner or sandwich) every day. Some parents choose not to take this offer and supply their children with a packed lunch.  We always try to ensure that on census day one of the more popular meal choices is available. On this day, we have changed the menu to fish & chips but remember there is also the school sandwich option which is very popular for many children.

We would like your help to try and encourage your child to take up the UFSM offer and if at all possible test it out next Thursday!

Many thanks

Miss Cook

27.9.21 Forgotten kit

Dear Parents/Carers,

We know it is early days and that children and parents are trying to get used to the new timetables.

Please could you double check on your child’s class website page, so that you are sure as to the correct kit needed on the correct day.

This would really help the office team, as they do seem to be spending a lot of time dropping off kit to differing classes at the moment.

Many thanks,

Miss Cook
