PE kits in school

Following on from Miss Cook’s announcement regarding PE kits, please can you ensure that children are wearing the correct PE kit in school. This should be a white tshirt and dark tracksuit bottoms/shorts. Please note that football shirts and skorts are not allowed. Thank you for your continuous support.

After school sports clubs

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you know, we constantly review our policy/procedure and change our practice accordingly.

We are struggling to find ‘bubble’ space for all of the different year groups to get changed for sports after school clubs, especially as we need to provide separate space for boys and girls in the older year groups.

As a result of this, we are going to ask that from tomorrow that children in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 that have a sports club after school, come to school in their school PE kit. We can manage Year 1 and 2 children changing and therefore there is no need to alter anything for them.

The only item that will be permitted is a change of foot wear for eg. Football boots.

We understand that children like to wear ‘football strip’ type clothes for many of the clubs, but ask that they stick to the normal school PE kit please.

This new rule will not affect the gymnastics club and we ask that those children bring in their change of clothes as they normally do.

We are working so hard at trying to keep our ‘bubbles of children’ separate and we think this new rule will allow an increase in safety, but also more time for the children to enjoy the activity in the club.

As ever, thank you for your support and patience as we continue to do all we can to keep Covid 19 away from our school community.

Virtual Harvest 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

Normally at this time of year, the classes are usually putting together wonderful work and practicing songs to share with you during our Harvest celebrations.

Due to the virus, we will be unable to celebrate Harvest in the same way this year and we are hoping that you will join us, in our alternative virtual arrangements.

Traditionally, we would be asking you to kindly donate items of food to share with families less fortunate than ourselves. This year, we will be asking you to donate any loose change that you may have and this will be donated to Telford Crisis Support. Our RotaKids group will be explaining what we are doing via video and this will be posted on the website, so please keep your eyes peeled!!

All the small change will be collected in collection boxes outside the school building. Telford Crisis Support will then tell us how many food parcels we have managed to fund.

We hope that you can join us in collecting for a very needed local cause this Harvest time.

More details to follow from our Rotakids.

Kind regards

Year 4 Egyptian Day

We are very excited to announce that on Monday 5th October, we will be having an Egyptian Day in Year 4, which will be run by the same organisation who delivered the Stone Age Day in Year 3. Please visit parent pay for more information about making a voluntary contribution towards the day.

Many thanks

Y4 Homework Reminder

Please encourage your child to read and practise their spellings and times tables regularly throughout the week.

Spelling sheets are stuck in your child’s diary every Friday for children to practise their spellings throughout the following week.

Times table homework can be found in their yellow times table books.

Children are tested on their spellings every Friday and their times tables every Wednesday.

Over the last few weeks, we have enjoyed reading comments from both parents and family members about what their child has read, as well as from the children themselves.

Many thanks

PE clarification

Dear Parents/Carers,

I understand from viewing social media that some parents are asking for clarification linked to the change in procedure with PE kit.

We really do understand that it is not ideal and we promise to revert back to normal as soon as it is safe to do so.

We place a high priority on PE in our curriculum and really do want our children outside in the fresh air as much as possible.

Some parents were worried their children would be cold. We are happy for children to wear outdoor PE kit each PE day if that helps. Clearly we will not be allowing your children to get soaking wet during PE and expecting them to sit in wet clothes for the rest of the day. Our PE coaches are fully aware of this.

We are not allowing PE kits to be borrowed from school, due to ongoing threats of the virus, so please support us in making sure your child/children are correctly dressed on the PE days.

If you have any further concerns please do call the office on 01952 387720 and the team will be happy to help.

Kind regards

PE Kit 10.09.2020

Dear Parent/Carer,

As you know we are constantly reviewing our systems in line with Government guidance and continue to assess how effectively they are working in our school.

We have decided that we will be asking children to attend school in their PE kits on the days they have PE. They will be expected to remain in these kits all day to avoid the need to get changed. Too much learning time was being spent getting classes of children changed whilst maintaining their bubbles.

It is important that children are wearing the correct PE kit as listed here:

  • Pupils – Indoor: White t-shirts and dark shorts. Clothing must not be baggy as it can get caught in the equipment. Hair should be tied up and jewellery removed. If ear-rings can’t be taken out, they are to be taped.
  • Pupils – Outdoor: Children should have a white T shirt, dark shorts/jogging bottoms, socks and suitable outdoor footwear (trainers). Outdoor PE continues throughout winter months unless there are extreme weather conditions. A dark coloured jumper/hoodie/coat is needed to be worn during the colder months.

PE Days are listed here as a reminder:

Monday               Year 2 (outdoor); and Year 5 (indoor)

Tuesday               Year 3 (indoor); Reception (outdoor); Year 4 (indoor); and Year 6 (outdoor)

Wednesday        Year 3 (outdoor); Den (outdoor)

Thursday             Year 4 (outdoor); Reception (indoor); Year 1 (outdoor); and Year 2 (indoor)

Friday                   Year 1 (indoor); Year 5 (outdoor); Y6 (outdoor/swimming)

Please note that Year 6 have swimming OR outdoor PE on a Friday afternoon. The class doing PE can come in their kit, the swimming group will be expected to come into school wearing school uniform and get changed at the pool.

It is also important that children have a coat with them, as we will still try to get children outside as much as possible.

We thank you for your support and patience during this tricky time.

Hand sanitiser

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are moving to a more streamlined system in school which will ensure that children spend as much time as possible in lesson time.

We are retaining thorough hand washing at key times, such as following a toilet visit or before lunch. Where the children have been only in contact with their ‘bubble’ we will be reverting to the hand sanitiser option.

If for some reason you want your child to use ‘home provided’ hand sanitiser, please let your child’s class teacher know as soon as you can.

Many thanks for your support.
