Y4 Celebrations…

Following on from our virtual Star of the Week assembly last week, I’d like to give a couple of ‘shout outs’.

Y4 Science- Animals including Humans

This term, Y4 would have been learning about animals including humans as part of their Science unit.

We’d like children to create a piece of work, which demonstrates their knowledge of this unit. Children can choose how they’d like to present this information e.g. a poem, piece of artwork, a video report etc and upload it onto the Y4 homework blog.

Y4 Home Learning W.B 04.05.20

Hi Everyone,

This week’s Literacy focus is using inverted commas (speech marks) correctly.

Start off the week by going through the teaching PowerPoint on how to punctuate speech correctly: Teaching PowerPoint for Inverted Commas Inverted-Commas Helpsheet

Complete some (or all) of these worksheets on punctuating speech:Inverted Commas Activities

Test your child’s knowledge of speech rules by ending the week with a quick test:Inverted Commas Test

Challenge: Encourage your child to write their own story, which includes dialogue (speech).

Handwriting Practice: The Tyger Handwriting Sheets Blank The Tyger Poem

This week’s theme is Geography. Please look out for Mrs Evans’ post, which contains lots of lovely ideas linked to Geography.

Y4 Parent Email

Purple Mash emails are a great way for children/parents to communicate with us; however, there have been a few requests from parents about emailing teachers directly, without their child having access to the content. To support parents, we have set up a Y4 email address for parents to email if they have any questions about their child/child’s learning.

Fun fruit snacks 🍎 , outdoor painting 🎨 and teddy bear hunts 🧸

On Thursday, we enjoyed playing cricket outside in the sunshine. When we got hungry we re-fuelled by making our own fruit caterpillar snacks 🐛. We took them outside to eat in the sunshine and played some more  games. After lunch, we used some old wallpaper to do some Spring painting outside. Then, we went on our very own bear hunt. There were 10 bears for us to find and each bear had an exercise challenge for us to complete. We finished our day by watching an animation of ‘We are going on a Bear Hunt’ on YouTube. Thank you for such a lovely day everyone!

Free School Meals

Families can apply for Free School Meals if they are entitled to certain benefits and have an annual income of £16,190 or below.

Although schools are currently not open, applications are still being processed, if you are successful you will receive vouchers via email for a selection of supermarkets worth £15 per child per week whilst school is closed due to the current situation.
