Update: 28.6.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

Unfortunately we have had 2 more positive cases in school (not related to any previous cases we have had).

Thank fully our online learning offer is established and that teachers can switch rapidly to avoid children missing more of their education.

If your child is any of the bubbles that have been told to isolate, yet you are finding it difficult to gain online access, please call the school and we will do all we can to help.

Our procedures in school are as tight as they have ever been and we hope that this outbreak has rapidly been brought under control.

As ever, if your children are displaying signs of illness, or in fact if anyone in your house is showing signs of illness, please play it safe and keep children off and get them tested.

This virus variant seems to display itself with a headache and cold like symptoms.

Luckily due to timings, the bubbles sent home today will be welcome back next Monday, so thankfully only miss 4 more ‘in school’ days where they have to isolate.

The Newdale team will continue to work so hard in ensuring the online offer is as high a standard as possible.

Thank you for your ongoing understanding and support.

ESafety Top Tip – Screen time

At school this week all year groups have been taking part in Healthy Lifestyles Week.  The children have learnt many different ways to keep our bodies and minds healthy.  One way to keep our mind healthy is to reduce the amount of screen time our children have and to use this time to get outside instead.

The World Health Organisation recommendations bear similarity to the The American Academy of Paediatrics Screen Time Guidelines (2016) which recommends:

  • For children younger than 18 months, avoid use of screen media other than video-chatting. Parents of children 18 to 24 months of age who want to introduce digital media should choose high-quality programming, and watch it with their children to help them understand what they’re seeing.
  • For children aged 2 to 5 years, screen use should be limited to 1 hour per day of high-quality programs. Parents should co-view media with children to help them understand what they are seeing and apply it to the world around them.
  • Children aged 6 years and older, consistent limits should be placed on the time spent using media, and on the types of media, and to make sure media does not take the place of adequate sleep, physical activity and other behaviours essential to health.
  • Spend designated media-free time together, such as dinner or driving, as well as media-free locations at home, such as bedrooms.
  • Ongoing communication about online safety, including treating others with respect online and offline.

If you need support to manage the amount of time your child spends online, please speak to a member of the Newdale staff team.

A special visitor…

This morning we had a surprise visitor come and see us in class.

Wolfie, the team mascot for Wolverhampton Wanderers, popped in to give us all a high five!

Wolves Community Outreach visit Yr 4

The children in YR 4 had a fantastic morning learning about what makes for a healthy diet through a session delivered by Wolves Community Outreach team. This was then followed up with some fun and energetic games outside. A super morning!

22.6.21 – Maternity News update!

Maternity News update!

Dear Parents/Carers of Year 5 children,

As you know Mrs Arthurs is expecting a baby during the Summer.  This letter is to let you know that her last day in school will be Friday 9th July.

We are delighted to let you know that we do not have to rely on unfamiliar supply teachers to cover for the last few weeks. We have managed to arrange for Mrs Morrow to teach this class until the end of the summer term. Mrs Morrow will work closely with Mr Banfield on the planning and we are confident that the offer in your child’s class will remain very high.

We all wish Mrs Arthurs and her family the very best of luck.

Regards,

Inflatable football – Miss Newport’s class

We had a great time this afternoon playing football matches in the inflatable football pitch and penalty shoot-out with the inflatable goal.

Additional copies of reports

End of year reports will be sent home with your child on 9th July.   If an additional copy is required by a parent who does not live at the child’s home address, you must contact the school office on 387720 to make a request by no later than Monday 5th July.

Please ensure that you keep your copy of the report safe, especially if your child is in Year 5.  Some secondary schools (such as Thomas Telford) require a copy to be sent with the application for Year 7 places and we will be unable to make further copies for you once they have been archived.
