Hollinswood and Randlay Brownies group

We are for girls aged 7-10 years and we meet on a Tuesday evening in Randlay Community Centre; we do lots of things including crafts, badges, outdoor activities, games, cooking, trips and sleepovers. We help to build girls’ self confidence and self esteem, promote friendships and also learn valuable life skills, and most of all we have lots of fun!

If anyone is interested please go to http://www.girlguiding.org.uk/joinus and select Randlay.

Collection of children at the end of the day

As part of our commitment to safeguarding children, it is vitally important that you let the school office know if someone other than the person who usually collects your child will be collecting them after school.

Our staff are directed to carry out checks if they do not know who the person who is collecting. Your child will be kept safe in school whilst we try to contact you to find out if you give permission for them to be released to this person. As you can imagine, this may take some time in order that we get your permission for your child to be released

To ensure that this is avoided, you need to let school know if there is a change. The best way of contacting school to tell us about this through either a note in the home / school communication book if you know in advance or a call into school on 01952 387720.

Thank you in advance for your continuing support.

Biking fun at After-School Club!

The children in Treetops After-School Club had great fun getting the bikes out this week. Those who were feeling a little adventurous even attempted the ramp!

The Big Ask survey

The Children’s Commissioner for England, Dame Rachel de Souza has launched a once-in-a-generation review of children’s lives.

It’s called ‘The Childhood Commission’ and it will identify the barriers preventing children reaching their full potential and propose policy solutions to address them.

At its heart is ‘The Big Ask’ – the largest ever consultation held with children.

In this survey the Children’s Commissioner is asking children and young people what they think is important for their future and what is holding young people back. The Children’s Commissioner will use what children and young people tell her to show the Government what they think and what they need to live happier lives.  Please follow the link below in order to complete the survey, thank you.

Update 4.5.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are now hopeful that we will have an uneventful rest of the term. What with the disruptions of Covid 19 and the fire, surely we have had our fair share of issues to deal with…

We keep our eye on the infection data for our area and have decided to continue our drive back to normality, albeit at a necessary slow pace.

We are giving you notice that from next Monday (11th May) we will be reverting back to a 8.40 am start and 3.10 pm finish for all children unless they are in Breakfast Club or After School Club.

The one way system and requirement for adults to wear masks whilst on our site remains at this time. If you can, please continue to pick up your child alone, to reduce the amount of people on the school site.

Please remember that registers close at 9 am so it is not essential to all crowd in for 8.40 am.

It is still paramount that you play it safe when considering sending your child into school if they are unwell. Two schools locally have had real problems with mini Covid outbreaks because of this.

Regular testing is really helpful in keeping control of the virus. Our staff continue to test at least twice a week.

Thank you for your support.

Nursery phonics

Today, if possible, please can you work on the letter “c” with your child for letters and sounds.  When we say the sound “c” we do the action of a caterpillar crawling across a leaf using our hands.  One hand is the leaf and the other is the caterpillar.  When writing “c” please help your child form the letter from the top and then draw downwards.  We say “curl around the caterpillar” as we are writing.

Can your child then find objects around the house with the “c” sound in it eg cup, can, sack.

Please send in a photograph of your child’s writing and any objects that they find using evidence me.

If your child is very confident they could also have a go at trying to write the sounds in the objects that they found.  In addition they could also look at how “c” changes to “ch” in words such as “chip”.
