Safety on our site

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are continually trying to ensure we have a safe site for everyone.

We rely on parents to socially distance themselves and need you to ensure this happens please. We also ask that parents limit the number of people coming onto site. We have noticed that more than one adult is often coming to drop off or collect and also that secondary pupils are joining parents in this task. Please limit the number to one person unless absolutely necessary.

Recently we have had to put a yellow box outside of the back classroom doors. This box must not be entered by any parents please.

Staff will ask you to step back if this is the case.

We also ask that parents continue to use the home school communication books, call the office or leave messages with Mrs Powell and Mrs Huda if necessary.

Parents are not allowed into classrooms or into the main school via the main office.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding at this time.

E-safety top tip!

How often do you talk to your child about online safety?

Evidence shows that parents talking to their children about safety and respect online is one of the best ways to keep them safe on and offline; young people are more receptive to being empowered themselves than by being forced to do something by their parents or carers.

Here are some conversation starters you could ask your child this weekend:

  • If you feel uncomfortable about anything on social media, where do you go for help?
  • If anybody sends you hurtful messages on the internet or on your mobile phone, who do you tell?
  • What are the school rules for using the internet?
  • What are the risks of posting inappropriate content on the internet?

Information check sheets

Dear Parents/carers

We will be sending home check sheets with children in Years 1-6 to make sure that the information that we hold on our system is up to date. Please ensure that you check through, make any amendments and then sign and return to your child’s class teacher even if there are no changes to be made.

Many thanks

Harvest Acrostic poems

This week we have been learning about and celebrating harvest festival. Over the week we have been taking part in lots of harvest themed activities in our lessons.

Year 1 cooking

Today as part of their Harvest  week Year 1 made very healthy and very delicious cheese and vegetable muffins.

All the children enjoyed baking their own muffins and tasting them in the afternoon.

Covid 19 update

Dear Parents/Carers,

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-to-parents-and-guardians-when-you-should-book-a-coronavirus-test-for-your-child/letter-to-parents-and-guardians-when-you-should-book-a-coronavirus-test-for-your-child

We have sent this document out before, but wanted to make sure it reached everyone. We are trying so hard to prevent any positive cases in our school, but we need your help…

Please follow all of the guidelines and in particular –

  • Making sure you are not sending your child/children into school if they are unwell.
  • Making sure they wash their hands before coming in to school and on arrival home.
  • Ensuring your children and you yourselves are socially distancing at the key times of drop off and pick up.

Clearly we can not control what goes on out of school, but ask that everyone does ‘their bit’ in trying to keep the virus out of our community and therefore lowering the risk of it getting into our school.

Thank you for your continued support.

Autumn fun!

We’ve had a wonderful time in the woods today. We looked for signs of Autumn. We found prickly sweet chestnuts and acorns too. The children looked for places to hide the acorns and looked for squirrels in the trees too. Can you go on an Autumn walk with your child and send in photos on parent share? You could find out if all of the leaves are the same shape, can you see if the leaves are all the same colour, are there any autumn seeds or fruit such as apples, berries or conkers. Please let us know what you find.

HLC Secondary Open Evening 2020

Following information sent out by Telford and Wrekin council, HLC have received a number of phone calls from Year 6 parents to request the start time for their Open Evening which was due to be on the 29th September.

As with many schools across Telford and Wrekin, HLC have cancelled this face to face event and will be delivering a Virtual Open evening via the school website. Y6 parents can keep up to date with the launch date for this Virtual Open Evening via their school website.
