Easter Raffle 2024

£1 per ticket. All tickets must be purchased through ParentPay. Please note that only one transaction can be made so all tickets you require must be purchased at the same time. The raffle will close on Tuesday 19th March and will be drawn on the afternoon of Wednesday 20th March. Winners will be contacted directly. All money raised will go into school fund to help subsidise school trips/events. Good luck everyone!

V-Tech watches

Please can we remind parents of the below, this is also relevant for dress up/non uniform days. Children must not be able to access a device during school hours that can take photos/recordings due to our safeguarding policy and permissions for photos/recordings for some children we must follow.

The watch itself has a camera on it which means it can record at any given time. The welfare of our children is paramount and therefore, due to the safeguarding risk, these watches will be banned in school. If a child comes into school wearing a VTech watch, it will be taken off them and returned at the end of the day.

World Book Day off to a great start!!!

The children are having a fabulous day with their book-based learning!

Photos below show Year 6 artwork based on Skellig, Y4 maths based on the book How Many Jelly Beans?, Y3 creating their own Super Villains, Y2 drawing their own Paper Dolls, Y1 science based on the book Tiddler.

All children who brought in a ticket have swapped their book for another that is new to them. They loved having such a wider choice of books. Thank you for your kind donations.

Big Walk & Wheel

Newdale will be taking part in the Big Walk & Wheel, the UK’s biggest inter-school walking, wheeling, scooting and cycling to school competition between Monday 11th March – Friday 22nd March.

As part of the competition we will be collating each day the total of children who have travelled to school either walking, wheeling, scooting and cycling

Where possible, please encourage children to travel to school either by, walk, wheel, scoot or cycle between the above dates. The higher our scores the better, schools will be entered into a daily prize draw for rewards including equipment and accessories if over 15% of pupils walk, use a wheelchair, scoot or cycle on that day of the challenge.

Link attached with details about the competition.

Good luck everyone!

World Book Day – Book Swap

Due to the success of our last Book Swap Day, we will once more run a second-hand book swap shop on World Book Day, this Thursday 7th March. Children who bring in a book that they no longer want can swap it for another second-hand book on the day (books in good condition only please).

World Book Day Swap Shop

Thank you for all your kind donations for our world book day swap shop.

We have still got some costumes left over and we would like to open this up to children who haven’t donated and would like to come and take a costume.

We will be in the Big Den again at 8:35 and 3:10 on the following days:

Tuesday 5th March

Wednesday 6th March

We look forward to seeing all your wonderful costume choices!

Thank you

Mr Jackson

Dear Parents/Carers of children in Mr Jackson’s class,

Mr Jackson has given me permission to share more details with you so that you can better understand the situation with this class.

Mr Jackson had to undergo a very long and complex operation last half term in order to remove cancer cells. The surgeons are confident that they have removed all visible cancerous cells, but as we all know, it is not wise to gamble with cancer and therefore he will also be undergoing specialist radioactive therapy as soon as he is well enough.

He is feeling positive and looks forward to returning to his teaching position just as soon as he is able. We do not yet have a time frame for this as no one is sure as to how quickly he will recover from the next stage of his treatment.

I want to reassure you that we are doing all we can to ensure that the quality of education for your children remains high. The Newdale teams are working so hard to ensure this happens. Mr McFarland is doing a tremendous job leading on all of the planning and it makes me so proud to see how the teams rally around whenever we have challenging situations like this to deal with.

I know you will all join me in wishing Mr Jackson the best of luck as he continues his treatment and recovery.

We will of course update you of any changes as they arise.

Thank you for your understanding and patience at this difficult time.

Site Security

Dear Parents/Carers,

We have noticed some issues around attempted access to our site after school via the top gate leading to the Wrekin Way. We even had to stop a lady with a shopping trolley yesterday who wanted to use it as a cut through.

There have also been issues with teenagers, who keep coming back and attempting to ride bikes etc on our site.

As a result of this we are going to lock this gate at 3.30pm to unsure continued safety for our Afterschool Club children.

Thank you for your understanding.

Miss Cook

Cool Cat!

Dear Parents/Carers,

Cool Cat thoroughly enjoyed his visit to Newdale and will be sending a message to the younger classes today congratulating them on coming to school every day and on time. He will be back during the summer Cool Cat week.

We always have a focus on attendance as our learning is planned in continuous sequences and therefore if a child misses a part of this sequence, it is tricky for them to catch up.

We understand that there are occasions where absence is unavoidable, but please remember that we are allowed to administer Calpol in school (with your permission) should you be unsure as to whether to send your child in or not.

Thankyou for your continued support.

Miss Cook

Treetops Wraparound Care

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are excited to announce a relaunch of our Treetops Wraparound Care website!

We have been very busy creating a new online space where parents/carers can look at information about our Wraparound Care provision and all the wonderful things that happen in Breakfast and After School Club.

This new webpage can be found on our Newdale website. Follow these steps to locate this page:

  1. Simply click the tab ‘Discover our School’
  2. Next, click on the ‘About’ tab
  3. Finally, you will see the tab called ‘Wraparound Care- Treetops’.

The new sections at the bottom of the page will appear as below:

  • Here, you will have access to the relevant forms / documents should you wish to book a space at either Breakfast or After School club.
  • You will also be able to view some of the exciting activities and trips the children take part in.
  • We have now also created a separate area where our healthy Breakfast and After School Club snack menus can be found.
  • Finally, should you wish to know who your children are working with during their time in Treetops wraparound care, we have added a ‘Meet the Team’ page where you can put a face to the name for all of our Treetops staff.

Please take a look. We hope you enjoy looking at the photo updates of your child/children during their time in wraparound care.

Many Thanks
