Maths Summer Term 2 – week 4

This week’s maths is all about measure again. You will be measuring  perimeter, adding and subtracting lengths and then Friday Fluency.

REMEMBER – try and practise your times tables on TTRS – I have set up tournaments. So get multiplying!!!!!

There are videos for each lesson followed by the activity sheets. Copy and paste the video link.  If you can’t print the sheets do not worry as you can just write out the calculations or answers on a piece of paper just as the sheets model.

Summer Term 2 Week 4 Literacy

This week you will be looking at speech, stories and storytelling! Hard work I hear you say! Not for brilliant Year 3’s! Attached are PowerPoints to help you understand before you complete the activities.

Day 1 – Year 3 Week 10 Day 1

Day 2- Year 3 Week 10 Day 2

  • Play and listen to http://player.hamilton-trust.org.uk/story_telling_display.php?cid=134 again , answer the questions verbally.
  • On Click for the Album , draw your version of the photo, on In the photograph you can see use uplevelled vocabulary to describe – excite us, use Conjunctions to ilnk your sentences
  • Write suggestions about How to be a storyteller, read Storytelling advice .

Day 3–Year 3 Week 10 Day 3

Day 4 – Year 3 Week 10 Day 4

  • Reread the story.
  • Find all the direct speech on page 11 of the story. Read the speech using expression. Find 3 examples of direct speech. Read through the slides (King of Rome Dialogue with audio
  • Look at the Final slide, read the instructions in green box, write your conversation on Cat Chat then read and change your voice for each character.

Day 5- Year 3 Week 10 Day 5

  • Summarise your opinions about the story you read and you heard. (do this verbally)
  • Planning a story- look at pages 5-11, choose 2 characters from this part, use My Story Planner and plan direct speech for your characters and what will happen.
  • Write the story in mini book, use conjunctions to link sentences together and illustrate it.

Summer Term 2 Week 3 Literacy

This week you will be looking at prepositions, conjunctions and poems! Hard work I hear you say! Not for Fantastic Year 3’s! Attached are PowerPoints to help you understand before you complete the activities.

Day 1 – Year 3 Week 10 Day 1

  • Fill in missing words on King of Rome -Cloze, listen to the song to check answers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asbcMaegOT4
  • Use the revision cards to remind you about direct speech and clauses, use 5 of Said Synonyms and write direct speech with report clauses.
  • Look at the Illustrations 1-4 and write, imagine what the characters could be saying. Choose 1 illustrations, write a paragraph and include direct speech.

  • Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmEph902N8w , answer the questions verbally.
  • Look at ‘Octopus’ on Bembo’s Zoo Examples can you find every letter of the word. On Letter by Letter describe each part that is being described.
  • Try and make your own Calligram work in pencil first.

  • Read Triangle Poem , answer the questions verbally.
  • Remind yourself about conjunctions on slides 1-4 (/Conjunctions-and-Prepositons-with-audio.pptx) then complete Conjunctions and Clauses: Cats and Dogs
  • Handwriting practise – choose favourite verse from the poem and write in your best handwriting

Day 5 – Year-3-Week-10-Day-5.pdf

  • Learn a verse of Triangle Poem
  • Remind yourself about prepositions on slides 5-end (/Conjunctions-and-Prepositons-with-audio.pptxt), complete Find the Preposition and Sentence Strips
  • Write your own Triangle poem using Triangle Poem kit , use conjunctions and prepositions in your poem.

This week’s maths is all about addition and subtraction and practising using the column method and crossing the tens or hundreds.

Summer Term Week 7 Literacy

This week you will be looking at poems, direct speech, adverbs and adjectives and reciting poems Lots of speaking to do! We know you’ll enjoy performing!  Attached are links to clips before you complete the activities.

Day 1 – Year 3 Week 9 Day 1

  • Read King of the Sky Text and Questions 1, challenge yourself and read King of the Sky Text and Questions 2
  • Look at the pictures St Peter’s Square and Tredegar  then write Descriptive Words and phrases. Then write a description of the view from your window using some beautiful, creative vocabulary.

  • Read Pigeons and cut out/copy the sentences under the correct Headings (challenge sort the sentences on Pigeons 2)
  • Use Research Pigeons about Mary of Exeter and create a poster

Day 4 – Year 3 Week 9 Day 4

  • Read the poem The Cow
  • Use (powerpoint) about adverbs or the revision cards, then complete Loving Cows
  • Read Top tips for learning a poem by heart, recite The Cow to someone at home

Day 5 – Year 3 Week 9 Day 5

  • Read the poem Sheep in Winter
  • Use revision card and remind yourself about adverbs, complete Adverbs and Adjectives
  • Read the other poems, underline or write out the adverbs, choose your favourite and try and learn it by heart.

Have fun with the literacy this week we cannot wait hear how you have got on memorising and reciting poems. Amazing job as always Year 3, we are so proud of you all!
