Year 6 Trips

Dear Parents/Carers,

Next week, Year 6 have two exciting trips to look forward to. Please read the information below regarding what the children should bring with them.

Please can children wear their school uniforms for both trips, but trainers instead of school shoes.

Tuesday 27th June – Telford Town Park

We will be spending the majority of the day outside and so please can children bring their school bags, containing a water bottle, hat and a waterproof coat, should the weather change. Pizza, chips and an ice lolly will be provided by school from Pizza Hut and so no lunch needs to be packed. All allergies will be catered for.

Friday 30th June – Crucial Crew

Please can children bring their school bags, containing a water bottle, hat and coat, as the weather is currently forecasting rain for this day. For children who receive a lunch from school, this will be provided and all other children will need to bring a packed lunch on this day.

Please can children wear their PE kits on Thursday 28th June for their crossbar session.

Many thanks,

Mr McFarland and Miss Jones

Our visit from a Harlem Globetrotter!

On Monday, the whole school were lucky enough to meet Britain’s tallest man and  the tallest basketball player in the world; Paul Sturgess. Paul has had a very impressive career playing basketball for Great Britain and for the Harlem Globetrotters, which our pupils loved hearing all about. All classes were also lucky  enough to have a basketball workshop with Paul.
However, asides from talking about his career, Paul had one very important message for our school… to embrace our differences and be proud of who we are! If Paul hadn’t embraced his height, he wouldn’t have found his passion for basketball and all of the  fantastic experiences that came with it!

Dress down day – 23rd June

Friday 23rd June is dress down day for all school, please bring a bottle for the summer fayre tombola.

Thank you!

Newdale Team

Healthy Lifestyle Week – A visit from Paul Sturgess

We had the best day in Reception to kick off HLW. We had a special visit from Paul Sturgess, former Harlem Globe Trotter.

After an inspirational talk, we got to learn some amazing basketball tricks. We can’t wait to see what sporty things you get up to this week. Please either email or post onto EvidenceMe to keep us updated.

Launch of new PE kit September 2023

19th June 2023

Dear Parent/Carer

We are launching a new PE kit for September 2023

This new navy PE top is made of fast drying material, looks cleaner and will stay smarter for longer than the current white option we have. It will also have our Newdale logo on it. Parents have told us that the white option very quickly gets stained and must be replaced more frequently and is therefore not necessarily a cheaper option.

We have worked hard to achieve the best price option possible from our uniform supplier at Baker and Sons. As it is a totally new item of PE kit complete with Newdale logo, school is going to subsidise some of the cost for the first top for every child in school.

You will be issued with a voucher from school before the end of term to take to Baker and Sons which will mean you can purchase your child’s top for just £5 instead of the normal price which will be £8.95. Tops will be available to purchase from Baker and Sons towards the end of July 2023.

When your child grows out of their first top, you have three options:

  1. Purchase another logo top for £8.95.
  2. Purchase a non-logo top for £7.50.
  3. Purchase your own plain navy top from elsewhere.

We do ask that no sport logo kit is used as school PE kit please- they must be either plain or with the Newdale logo.

Please note the rest of our PE kit consists of the following:

  • A plain navy hoodie or jumper
  • Plain navy shorts or tracksuit bottoms
  • Trainers or pumps

It is important that everyone abides by our uniform rules as we know how important is it that children feel part of our Newdale team.

We hope you agree that this is a positive update to our uniform. Vouchers will be issued by the office in due course.

Kind regards,

Miss Cook

Year 6 Production Updates

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you for your continued support with our production, especially with helping your child learn their lines – we cannot wait for you to see it!

Thursday 20th July – The Wizard of Oz performances.

The children have been working incredibly hard to prepare for their production of the Wizard of Oz, which we are delighted to present to you over two performances at 1.30pm and 6.00pm. Tickets for these performances can be purchased via ParentPay (these will be live in the coming weeks) and we kindly ask that all children are in school for 5.30pm via the office to prepare for the evening performance. Some children may be asked to attend earlier than this, but we will communicate this through their reading diary. We look forward to seeing you there!

Friday 21st July – Leavers Assembly – 2pm.

For their final farewell, year 6 will be hosting an awards ceremony, distributing awards to peers who they have voted for in class. The assembly will begin at 2.00pm and there will be an opportunity for photographs to be taken at the end. The children can bring in smart clothing (such as their prom outfit), if they wish to change into this before the event, however this is not compulsory.

We would also please ask for each child to bring in a strong plastic bag to school from Monday 10th July onwards, so that they can bring home their books from this year.

Thank you for your continued support and co-operation.
