Family Tree – Yr R

A quick reminder that we will be discussing different types of families and looking at our family tree tomorrow. If you have done any work with your child on this, or have made your own family tree, please can you bring it in, in the morning for your child to share.

Ice pops

On Thursday 15th and Friday 16th June, Year 6 children will be selling ice-pops at home time in order to raise money for Healthy Lifestyles Week. It will be 30p per lolly. Following feedback from last year’s event, we will have two stations. One station will be under the oak tree by the astro-turf pitch. The second station will be located by the Year 1 classrooms. Please be aware that we have limited freezer space in school and stock is therefore also limited. Please only buy the lollies you need so that everyone has a chance to buy one. If this proves popular, we will of course have further events like this. Thank you for your support.

Governors involvement from the Curriculum committee

The Curriculum committee meets every half term and yesterday governors thoroughly enjoyed listening to a group of year 3 children sharing French songs and confidently sharing their extensive knowledge on the geography and culture of France.

Governors were also super impressed with how articulately another group of children from across the school, could talk about physical and human geography. They explained how they use their skills and equipment to carry out tasks. Governors were happy to hear them talk about trips they had been on and the use of such technical vocabulary. Children were proud to share their geography books with governors, which clearly show progression from year 1 to year 6. Governors look forward next time to talking to mathematicians across the school.

New member of staff

Miss Cooper joined our Pastoral Team last week. The children have all given her a lovely welcome to the school. You’ll see Miss Cooper on duty in a morning and at the end of the day, along with Mrs Powell and Mrs Byrne-Corbett.

Ofsted Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are delighted to be able to share with you our Ofsted report. Following our recent inspection, we are so proud to now be able to tell you that we have retained our Outstanding judgement. It was recognised that the Newdale teams work continually hard to ensure the highest standard of education for your children. We hope you will agree after reading the report, that the essence of Newdale shines through.

From the quality of education and personal development to behaviour and attitudes and safeguarding we have excelled in all of these areas right from our Nursery provision through to Year 6. Though the report cites no points for development, we will continually work to remain at the forefront of educational thinking and challenge ourselves.

We are especially proud of our whole school community: your children truly shine and all our dedicated teams play such a significant part in this ongoing success, which you will read within the report.

Every single child matters in this school and this report highlights this fact. Rest assured, we will continue to work as hard for your families as we always have.
