Career Week in Reception

Reception enjoyed a very special visitor yesterday. We had a zoo keeper from Hoo Zoo in to tell us all about her duties in caring for the animals. She brought along a very big snake as her special guest. 🐍 He was very well behaved, though it was very funny how he liked to rest on her head!

Student Travel 2021-22

Dear Parents and Guardians,
The time is now fast approaching for all year 6 pupils to move up to secondary school, we understand for some pupils this means taking a bus to school for the first time.
Arriva would like to take this opportunity to inform you of the options that are available to support you in getting your child to their new school safely. We provide frequent and reliable bus services across the region, all our buses are Covid-19 secure and undergo enhanced touchpoint cleaning every day,
Arriva’s Child Saver tickets not only provide your child with reduced priced bus travel costs to and from school, but the same ticket can also be used to travel at evenings, weekends and throughout all school term holidays. You can spread the cost of our saver tickets over affordable monthly payments using our easy-to-use direct debit system. It’s simple to apply, there’s no setup fee or minimum contract required, which means you can cancel your direct debit to stop your ticket at any time should your circumstances change.

Tie Dye Reminder

Dear Parents/Carers,

Please remember to send your child in tomorrow with an old, light-coloured t-shirt for tie dye on Thursday.

Thanks in advance,

Covid update 05/07/2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

It is so lovely to have all classes back in school today. We have everything crossed that we do not have to shut any more bubbles between now and the end of term.

Many schools across Telford are having to deal with virus issues as figures continue to rise.

The ruling around bubble closures and testing remains the same for schools until the end of term. We hope that new rules from the Government will be announced over the summer, so that we have less drastic measures enforced concerning isolation.

Please help us to keep our school virus free. It is clear that this variant is more easily transmissible and it seems that lots of cases are passing from parents to children, with contacts then coming into school.

We are asking now that you look really closely not only at your own children’s health, but that of everybody that lives in the household. If you suspect anyone as having symptoms, please be cautious and keep everyone at home, then get tested straight away. We would rather one child missed a day, than potentially 30 or 60 children missing 10 days of education/face to face interaction.

We are continuing our twice weekly staff testing and maintaining our covid procedures in school in an attempt to keep everyone safe and all classes operational. We also ensure that any visitors to school also provide evidence of testing and observe all of our protective measures which are in place.

We really do understand how disruptive school bubble closures can be for children, parents and staff.

Thank you for your continued support.

Art Day 🎨

Reception loved art day today. They each contributed to a joint masterpiece by creating leaves and bark in the style of Kandinsky! We learnt how to make shades of the same colour using white and black to lighten or darken the colour.
We will use these to create one joint display based on our book that we have been reading in class recently, ‘Monkey Puzzle’. We will reveal the final piece soon. In the meantime, here are some photos of the children hard at work painting, cutting, sticking and having fun.

Holiday activities and food programme with EKO

Having recently become a registered charity EKO has been able to secure funding through Shropshire council for the Holiday Activities Food Programme (HAF). HAF is a government initiative set up to provide support during the school holidays for families who have children eligible for benefits related free school meals.

Sessions will be based at our new Outdoor Learning Site in the grounds of Weston Park. Each day will be different but will follow a similar pattern of learning, exploring, creating and playing outdoors, ending with a nutritious lunch cooked by the group over our campfire. Our activities will centre around healthy eating and looking at where our food comes from. There will be challenges and team work, strong friendships form and the laughter is infectious. We plan on having lots of fun!
