Fruit & Vegetable tasting session – Rec, Y1 and Y2

On Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th February, our Reception, Y1 and Y2 children will be taking part in a 5 a day session which is being run by a team from the Schools Health and Wellbeing programme.

During this session, the children will have the opportunity to taste some fruit and vegetables such as fresh pears.

We already have historic permission from parents on our system, so we know who has permission and who hasn’t, but if you do not want your child to sample the food, please let your teacher know by Monday 3rd February.

The fruits and vegetables selected will be suitable for all children as we have double checked our list of children with allergens in those year groups.

Many thanks

Newdale Team

Year 3 reminders

Dear Parents and Carers,

Please  ensure that children are not bringing toys/items in from home to gift to their friends. The children have been spoken to today about the importance of being friends with someone because of their personal attributes and not because they give gifts and that sometimes people can change their mind and want items back which can lead to upset.

Thank you for your continued support,

Year 3

Blast Off – E Safety Performance – Year 1- 6

We are excited to present “Blast Off” by Saltmine Company, an educational performance covering aspects of online safety. The event will take place on Thursday 6th February 2025 and will take place throughout the school day. To support this initiative, we kindly request a donation of £2 per pupil. This experience promises to be enlightening and valuable for our students. Contributions can be made through ParentPay.

Please see letter for further details.

Mrs Churm’s class BeSMART treat

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow, Mrs Churm’s class will have their BeSMART treat in the afternoon. The children are welcome to bring in something snuggly for the afternoon such as a dressing gown or teddy to use while we watch a film.

Thanks, Mrs Churm

Arthog 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

Arthog visit 2025

As you may be aware, in Year 6 your child is invited to attend the Arthog Outdoor Education Centre in Wales for 4 nights. The trip will take place in the Autumn term: October 6th – 10th 2025.

Arthog is an outdoor education centre on the Welsh coast, near to Barmouth and Fairbourne. The children gain a great deal from this trip: independence, the opportunity to try new skills, build confidence and develop their teamwork skills, whilst enjoying the great outdoors. Activities organised by the centre include gorge walking, rock climbing, canoeing and mountain walking. Further information can be found on their website: https://www.telford.gov.uk/aoec/site/index.php

The total cost for Arthog is £350, with school subsidising the rest of the cost. This can be split into 6 payments (alternatively, you can pay in full if this is more convenient for you):

  • 1st March: initial deposit of £80
  • 1st April: £50
  • 1st May: £50
  • 1st June: £50
  • 1st July: £60
  • 1st September: £60 (final payment)

The details for payments will be on ParentPay and will go live on Tuesday 28th January. The cost includes travel, food (a cooked breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal daily), accommodation and of course all the great activities they do.

We would like to invite you to an information session about the trip. This will be held at 5pm on Tuesday 28th January in the school hall. Entrance will be at the back of the hall, via the exit doors. Later in the year, we will send out further information about e.g. kit lists and timings, but for now, we simply need confirmation as to whether your child would like to attend.

Yours sincerely,

Mr McFarland and Mrs Stack.

🌟🌟 Friday 17th January – Achievers Assembly 🌟🌟

Friday 17th January 2025

This week has been a very busy and tiring week for many as we had two very exciting trips. Year 5 really impressed us with their outstanding behaviour on Tuesday when we visited Harry Potter World. Although the drive was long, the children said the studio tour was definitely worth it – especially as we all got to have a go on a broomstick! We hope you enjoyed their magical photos. On Wednesday, we were equally impressed with all the pupils who attended the Young Voices concert. They had a fantastic time and represented our school incredibly well. We are sure there is lots of sleep to catch up on this weekend!

BeSMART Cup winners who will have a special treat next week:

Mrs Churm’s class for listening well in class to our new rhymes for being ready and showing super BeSMART behaviours around school.
