Goodbye to Sharon Adkins

Nursery would like to send Mrs Sharon Adkins all the best wishes as she moves on to pastures new.  She will be greatly missed in nursery at lunch time and at After school club.  Her last day with us will be Friday 11th June after 17 years of service.  We have successfully appointed a super new keyworker Rebecca Preston who will be joining our team in nursery.

Update 7.6.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you all managed to enjoy the glorious weather over half term.

I am sure it won’t have escaped your attention in the national news that the Delta variant (previously known as the Indian variant) is becoming the dominant strain across the West Midlands and the UK.

We are seeing this reflected locally across Telford and Wrekin too, with the latest figures showing that Coronavirus cases have risen slightly.

It is important to remember that while the Delta variant is more transmissible, the illness it causes is not more severe, and the vaccines continue to provide protection.

As always, the Public Health and Health Protection Teams are doing all they can to reduce the spread of the virus. We continue to follow our school procedures and monitor the situation very closely.

We are not reinstating the need for parents to wear masks on site at the moment, but of course if you choose to do so, that is up to you.

If you feel your child is ill and beginning to show symptoms, please do not risk it and keep them at home to monitor. The impact of a positive case in school is huge.

Staff continue to get tested twice a week and as you know there is significant availability to get tests across Telford should you need to.

Thank you for your ongoing support, we will of course let you know if anything changes, but fingers crossed we will see this slight increase reduce again very quickly.

Life in Modern Britain Survey Feedback

After analysing the parent surveys about how Newdale prepares children for life in modern Britain, one of the main trends was that parents wanted more information on how and when these topics are taught in school. Please find below an information guide to support parents with their understanding of how and when these topics are taught during your child’s time at Newdale as well as discussions you can have at home with your child.

How we prepare children for life in modern Britain

After you have read the guide, we would appreciate it if you could complete a short survey on how useful you have found this information- it should only take a couple of minutes.

Miss Sophie Fenn

We would like to wish Miss Sophie Fenn all the best for the future as she is moving on to pastures new.  Nursery will miss her as we have loved having her here at Newdale for the last two years.  Her group in Mighty oaks will be taken over on the 10th June by the fantastic Mrs Ali Bissell, who the children know really well already. I’m sure you’ll all join me in wishing her good luck for the future.

Parent Information from Monday 24th May 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

From Monday 24th May wearing a mask on site will not be compulsory.

Adults and children will still be required to follow the one way system when dropping off and collecting their children.

Many thanks

Careers Week

Dear Parents and Carers,

At Newdale, dreams and aspirations are harnessed and nurtured. This is the vision for all of our pupils. We teach all children to become self-confident and to take control of their own lives and create their own futures.

To support our pupils to have dreams and aspirations, we plan a careers programme to help inspire them to work towards the jobs of their dreams.

Our school is a place where everyone gets excited about their next steps and futures. We would like to invite you to share your occupations with our children.

Our careers programme has successfully run in school previously and we are looking for willing volunteers to lead activities with pupils or participate in talks, either in person or via teams.

Careers week will take place week commencing 5th July.

We are looking for people who want to share their experience of their own job – The more varied the occupations the greater the learning experience we can provide.

If you are interested, please email the office and we will get back in contact with you.

Many thanks
