Collection of children at the end of the day

As part of our commitment to safeguarding children, it is vitally important that you let the school office know if someone other than the person who usually collects your child will be collecting them after school.

Our staff are directed to carry out checks if they do not know who the person who is collecting. Your child will be kept safe in school whilst we try to contact you to find out if you give permission for them to be released to this person. As you can imagine, this may take some time in order that we get your permission for your child to be released

To ensure that this is avoided, you need to let school know if there is a change. The best way of contacting school to tell us about this through either a note in the home / school communication book if you know in advance or a call into school on 01952 387720.

Thank you in advance for your continuing support.

Reception Star 💫

Update 14.5.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you know, we keep our eye on any guidance that is coming out from the health experts and the local authority. Yesterday more guidance came out about face coverings. As a reaction to this, we are altering our risk assessment. From Monday 24th May (a week on Monday) you will be allowed on site without a face covering. Staff will still have to wear face coverings in communal areas in school, but not in the classrooms. The rest of our procedures remain unchanged at the moment and as we wait to see what happens next with the Indian variant of the virus.

To reassure you, every adult in school continues to test at least twice a week.

It is still really important that you are overly sensitive when looking at your child’s health. If they have any of the three main symptoms, it is important that they have a full PCR Covid test (the link to book one is below) –

  1.   High temperature
  2.   Continuous cough
  3.   Loss of taste and smell

We are ever hopeful that as time goes on, more and more restrictions can be lifted. The figures for Telford are encouraging and therefore the route to normality still remains firmly in place.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Reception Lost Property

As you can see, now it is late spring, we are experiencing both warm and wet weather. Because of this, the children are taking jumpers and cardigans on and off more frequently. Please can you help us by ensuring that their uniform and PE kits are labelled with their name so that we can easily and quickly partner up clothes again with the right person. It can be quite a challenge to man the doors at home time and search for lost belongings at the same time.
We try to encourage the children to hang their jumpers on their peg or the back of their chairs when they take them off, so we would appreciate if you remind them to do this too.
Many thanks,

The Reception Team.

Photo Day

It is Class Photo day on Friday 21st May. Please can children come into school wearing their uniform. They will not require their PE kit on this day. Many thanks The Reception Team

The Big Ask survey

The Children’s Commissioner for England, Dame Rachel de Souza has launched a once-in-a-generation review of children’s lives.

It’s called ‘The Childhood Commission’ and it will identify the barriers preventing children reaching their full potential and propose policy solutions to address them.

At its heart is ‘The Big Ask’ – the largest ever consultation held with children.

In this survey the Children’s Commissioner is asking children and young people what they think is important for their future and what is holding young people back. The Children’s Commissioner will use what children and young people tell her to show the Government what they think and what they need to live happier lives.  Please follow the link below in order to complete the survey, thank you.

Sports Day

Sports Day

Dear Parents/Carers,

Many schools are abandoning Sports Day due to the risks linked to Covid 19. We know that children love this event and want to put the effort in to allow this event to go ahead in some way. We have therefore decided that each year group will have their own mini sports day. Here are the dates and times –

29th June 2021

Year Reception                       9.15am – 10.30am

Year 3                                     10.45am – 11.45am

Year 4                                     1.45pm – 3.00pm

30th June 2021

Year 1                                     9.15am – 10.30am

Year 5                                     10.45am – 11.45am

Year 2                                     1.45pm – 3.00pm

2nd July 2021

Year 6                                     1.45pm – 3.00pm

Usually, we run a House competition across school on sports day. However, due to the current circumstances and house allocations, this is not possible to continue in the same format. Miss Jones and Mr Irvine are busy working on teams within the year group. Children will undoubtedly tell you about that as soon as they know.

The sports day will be carried out on the sports field.  We ask that parents wait by the main gates onto the school playground, where a member of staff will let you in. Children will be on one side and adults will be socially distanced on the other side of the track. The children may be sat in class team bubbles, but this may change if the Covid 19 restrictions are eased by then. At this time, we are stating that parents must wear a mask for the duration of the event. Again, we will review this restriction in line with guidelines and advice and we will keep you informed.

Due to the time the children will be outside, could you please ensure that your child has applied sun cream before coming to school and brings a hat with them.  Drinks will be provided for them at various stages.

Regardless of what happens Covid wise we will stick to the Year Group events this year and will ensure the children have a great time.

Yours sincerely

Miss Cook
