Welcome to Year 1

Hello everyone in Year 1. We hope you had a lovely break. We can’t wait to see you on Tuesday to hear all about your holiday. Just a quick not to say that we will be having Gymnastic lessons on a Tuesday  and they will be starting this week (Tuesday 3rd September). Please can children come into school wearing their PE Kit.

Many thanks Miss Fisher, Mrs Evans and Mrs Sturrock

Welcome to Year 1 2024-2025

Welcome to the new term and your new classes in Year 1!

We are so excited to start the year altogether and have lots of fun whist learning new things.

Attached is all the information you need for the new term.

Class intro page Year 1 2024-2025

PE days are Tuesday (Indoor : Gymnastics) and Friday (Outdoor : Multiskills) for Autumn 1.

Forest School will be a Thursday Afternoon, starting Week 2. Please can children bring into school a bag containing some old clothes, a waterproof coat or puddle suit and appropriate outdoor footwear. It is really important that all of this extra clothing is labelled clearly.

In our Class Intro booklet you will find a detailed map of where your child’s new classroom is. The Year 1 children will enter and exit via the steps by the school office.

Please take a look at our Autumn term topics.

Safeguarding, Health & Safety Committee Update

Governors observed the annual innvacution and were impressed with the speed in which children got into their classrooms.

ROSPA (The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) report was analysed thoroughly, and governors had the chance to look first hand outside at items listed and share their thoughts.

Governors were delighted to speak to a parent in the meeting who receives excellent support from school. Governors are looking forward to seeing the opening of the new hub provision and talking to the children during the autumn term.

Finance and Personnel Committee Update

The Finance and Personnel Committee met last week and discussed the highly positive quality of Nursery provision along with Nursery future plans. They received an update on the SEND provision across the school and spent time reading the parent comments, analysing and creating an action plan following the recent parent survey feedback. Governors would like to thank parents for finding the time to fill a survey in. Governors were delighted in the widespread positivity highlighted throughout the survey by parents. They would also like to reassure parents that each and every single comment was read and where appropriate actions planned.

Art Day – materials needed (Y1 & 2)

We cannot wait to get stuck into art day on Friday! We are getting into our house teams across Year 1 and 2 to create a wonderful underwater display using recycled materials.

Please can you send your child into school with any egg boxes, bubble wrap, old CDs/DVDs, clear plastic bottles, round plastic bottle lids (e.g as seen on a milk bottle), cardboard toilet roll/kitchen roll tubes, clear plastic bags and brown packaging paper that you have so that they can use these to make coral and sea creatures.

Thank you so much for your support!

Miss Buckingham’s Class – BeSMART Cup Treat

As the BeSMART winners, we have decided that we would like to wear our pyjamas to school tomorrow – Thursday 11th July. The children can come to school wearing these, but need trainers on their feet still (They may bring slippers for our movie in the afternoon if they would like).

We can’t wait to celebrate with you tomorrow!
