Update 14.5.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you know, we keep our eye on any guidance that is coming out from the health experts and the local authority. Yesterday more guidance came out about face coverings. As a reaction to this, we are altering our risk assessment. From Monday 24th May (a week on Monday) you will be allowed on site without a face covering. Staff will still have to wear face coverings in communal areas in school, but not in the classrooms. The rest of our procedures remain unchanged at the moment and as we wait to see what happens next with the Indian variant of the virus.

To reassure you, every adult in school continues to test at least twice a week.

It is still really important that you are overly sensitive when looking at your child’s health. If they have any of the three main symptoms, it is important that they have a full PCR Covid test (the link to book one is below) –

  1.   High temperature
  2.   Continuous cough
  3.   Loss of taste and smell

We are ever hopeful that as time goes on, more and more restrictions can be lifted. The figures for Telford are encouraging and therefore the route to normality still remains firmly in place.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Fun with Phonics in Year 1…

We really enjoyed practising some extra phonics this afternoon. We focussed on different ways of making an ‘oo’ sound. We read lots of different words and found their matching pictures, we also had a go at writing some different ‘oo’ words. We sorted words into real or nonsense.

How many different ways of making an ‘oo’ sound can you remember?

Sports Day

Sports Day

Dear Parents/Carers,

Many schools are abandoning Sports Day due to the risks linked to Covid 19. We know that children love this event and want to put the effort in to allow this event to go ahead in some way. We have therefore decided that each year group will have their own mini sports day. Here are the dates and times –

29th June 2021

Year Reception                       9.15am – 10.30am

Year 3                                     10.45am – 11.45am

Year 4                                     1.45pm – 3.00pm

30th June 2021

Year 1                                     9.15am – 10.30am

Year 5                                     10.45am – 11.45am

Year 2                                     1.45pm – 3.00pm

2nd July 2021

Year 6                                     1.45pm – 3.00pm

Usually, we run a House competition across school on sports day. However, due to the current circumstances and house allocations, this is not possible to continue in the same format. Miss Jones and Mr Irvine are busy working on teams within the year group. Children will undoubtedly tell you about that as soon as they know.

The sports day will be carried out on the sports field.  We ask that parents wait by the main gates onto the school playground, where a member of staff will let you in. Children will be on one side and adults will be socially distanced on the other side of the track. The children may be sat in class team bubbles, but this may change if the Covid 19 restrictions are eased by then. At this time, we are stating that parents must wear a mask for the duration of the event. Again, we will review this restriction in line with guidelines and advice and we will keep you informed.

Due to the time the children will be outside, could you please ensure that your child has applied sun cream before coming to school and brings a hat with them.  Drinks will be provided for them at various stages.

Regardless of what happens Covid wise we will stick to the Year Group events this year and will ensure the children have a great time.

Yours sincerely

Miss Cook

School drop off and collection reminder

Starting on Monday (11th May) we will be reverting back to a 8.40 am start and 3.10 pm finish for all school children unless they are in Breakfast Club or After School Club.

The school gates will be open a few minutes before the times above.

Update 4.5.21

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are now hopeful that we will have an uneventful rest of the term. What with the disruptions of Covid 19 and the fire, surely we have had our fair share of issues to deal with…

We keep our eye on the infection data for our area and have decided to continue our drive back to normality, albeit at a necessary slow pace.

We are giving you notice that from next Monday (11th May) we will be reverting back to a 8.40 am start and 3.10 pm finish for all children unless they are in Breakfast Club or After School Club.

The one way system and requirement for adults to wear masks whilst on our site remains at this time. If you can, please continue to pick up your child alone, to reduce the amount of people on the school site.

Please remember that registers close at 9 am so it is not essential to all crowd in for 8.40 am.

It is still paramount that you play it safe when considering sending your child into school if they are unwell. Two schools locally have had real problems with mini Covid outbreaks because of this.

Regular testing is really helpful in keeping control of the virus. Our staff continue to test at least twice a week.

Thank you for your support.
