Junk Modelling Week in Year 1

We have absolutely loved being builders and engineers this week. We had SO much recycling brought in from home so thank you very much! The children loved looking through all of the different shapes and materials we had. They thought carefully about what they needed and the best way to join them together. We were all very excited to bring our models home and share them with you! 🙂

Parent/Carer Survey Autumn 2020

We would like to thank all of the parents in school and nursery who completed a parent survey this year. We were delighted to receive back over 250 surveys this year! Each survey has been read and we really value your thoughts and opinions. Once feedback has been discussed with all staff, we will share with you our next steps as a school.

The winners of the £50 Asda vouchers are:
Harley (Year 6)
Tiana (Year 1)
Coby (Ladybugs)

Vouchers will be given out by the end of the week.

Many thanks for taking the time to complete a survey, your views are important to us.

Remembrance Day in Year 1

Today, we learnt all about Remembrance Day and reflected on why it is such an important day. We all participated in a two minute silence and wrote sentences to answer quiz questions about Remembrance Day. We took part in our ‘11’ challenge by completing 11 laps of the bicycle track.

Remembrance Day

The last few days we have been learning lots about Remembrance Day.

Today we did a superb piece of writing in literacy, we took part in the 2 minutes silence and then we completed our challenge of biking 11 times around the track.

We can’t wait till next week.

Year 1’s Pretend Zoo Day 🐍 🦁 🐯

We weren’t able to visit the zoo so we decided to bring the zoo to Newdale! We planned and designed our very own zoos; thinking carefully about what each type of animal might need in their home.

In the afternoon, we became wild animals and visited the ‘Newdale Jungle’. We each chose an animal mask that we would like to make. In the jungle, we looked for and made different animal footprints. Some of us even built dens that we thought our animal would like to live in. We had lots of fun exploring the Forest, pretending to be animals – the koalas particularly enjoyed climbing the trees.
