Governors feedback linked to the Curriculum meeting

Governors were impressed with the phonics teaching offer when they visited and participated in, a variety of the Read Write Inc (RWI) phonics sessions in reception during the Curriculum meeting yesterday. Governors felt reassured by the positive learning atmosphere, excited by the children’s engagement and impressed with the quality of teaching.

During the rest of the meeting, Governors received updates on the strategies related to Pupil Premium and PE funding for the school. They were impressed by the upcoming proposals and events planned for the rest of the year.

Additionally, the governors had the opportunity to discuss the induction process with the new year 1 teacher and were confident in the process.

Year 2 – changes to timetable

Good afternoon,

Just some updates to Year 2 this half term.

Monday 20th November, we have a Guy Fawkes day – children do not need anything extra but will hopefully come back with lots to tell you about our history day.

We have our cinema trip Wednesday morning therefore PE has swapped to Thursday afternoon. Children will therefore need PE kits Thursday and Friday next week and normal school uniform Monday-Wednesday.

In year 2, we alternate outdoor learning every half term. We completed outdoor learning before half term, therefore, we do not have another outdoor learning session until after the Christmas holiday. We will have outdoor learning again in January but until then please do not send any kits in.

NATIVITY
We are SO excited to start rehearsing our Nativity!

Children have all been given a part. We have tried to give most children a speaking part and have sent scripts home for them to rehearse. Can you insure these remain in reading diary packs as we may need them to practise in school?

We will send details out about costumes at a later date but will help children with any part of the costume that is difficult to source.

If you wish to discuss your child’s role, please email via the year 2 address (newdale.year2team@taw.org.uk).

We hope you have a wonderful weekend!

See you Monday,

Year 2 team.

Nature Walk 13.11.2023

Good morning,

Year 2 are going on a Nature Walk this Monday 13th November. We apologise for the late notice; we are having some difficulties with posts not loading.

The weather is looking clear in the afternoon, when we are planning for the walk, but children will need warm, waterproof coats. We will be sticking to footpaths, however, children can bring wellies or comfortable footwear to get changed into after lunch if you prefer.

Enjoy your weekend!

Many thanks,
Year 2 team.

Finance & Personnel Committee Meeting

On Wednesday, Governors reviewed the staffing structure and the whole school staffing strategy moving forward. Governors carried out a ‘deep dive’ of the induction process by speaking to a new member of staff and were reassured that the process is robust.

Governors were delighted with the Year 3 children’s attitude towards school and the excitement shown about the move to Key Stage 2.

Governors agreed the recent appraisal recommendations and spent time analysing the school finances and future strategic financial planning.

Year 2 Trip fun!

Wild Zoological was a fantastic day out :)

The children loved visiting the animal enclosures and watching both incredible shows. The WILD bird show was fascinating. We couldn’t believe how many birds we saw! They flew so close to our heads. I bet the children cannot wait to tell you all about it!

Mrs King’s class are BeSMART cup winners!

Children are invited to bring in a toy tomorrow (Tuesday 10.10.2023)

Can we ask that the toys are not electrical or things they do not want to share

Unfortunately, football cards are banned as they can cause arguments when swapped.

 Many thanks,

Mrs King.
