Once completed, why not extend the activity by creating your own sentences, writing them in chalk, painting them, or any other method you can think of? Can you think of any other words that contain these blends? Can they be found in any books you have?

Busy Bee and I are hoping that you are feeling a lot more confident with your Phase 3 & 5 Phonics sounds now. For good measure, we will begin to look at Phase 4 which has a big focus on blending letters. As children progress through Phase 4 they become more confident and skilled in reading and spelling words with a greater number of letters and graphemes. You can see below what this phase covers.

Here are a few little tasks that you could have a go at completing to gain confidence in this phase of phonics.

Activity 1

The below sentences build on the skills learned in Phases 2 & 3.
Can you spot the capital letter and full stop in each sentence?
Practice reading the sentences below and if you struggle with any words, think about which grapheme it is that you struggle with e.g. is it ‘ow’ (as in down)? If so, go back and practice ‘ow’ words.
